10 Winners of the Be Featured Contest from DragonBlogger.com
On December 29th I had sent a mailing list newsletter to my subscribers that I was holding a contest and would be featuring 10 winners on DragonBlogger.com in an upcoming article. This contest was only offered to my mailing list subscribers, but I also sent the mailing list update out via Twitter so that people could click on the link and join the mailing list to instantly become eligible.
I had a slew of entries, but in the end I picked the following 10 winners, my selection was not random and I gave preference to sites that I had not promoted previously on DragonBlogger (at least recently) and I tried to find sites that had some separation from each other in topic/design. Didn’t want to promote 10 blogging tips sites for example as I specifically wanted to vary up the types of featured sites.
Here were the winner’s of the Featured Mailing List Contest and I suggest you check out each site, especially if they fall under a topic/category that interests you.
#1. One Stop Poetry
I do run a poetry blog but don’t get the chance to visit and feature other literary blogs often, One Stop Poetry had a really clean and attractive design, with quality haiku’s and poems. It promoted community and invited writers to join in and become featured and part of that community. If you enjoy poetry and especially writing poetry, this is a blog that you should become a part of.
#2. Guide Goods
I am always looking for PC and Gadget blogs and Guide Goods was an easy one to pick as a featured blog, they have a very minimal design so the content is clean, clear and easy to read. You won’t get distracted or have obtrusive ads attacking your eyes like some technology sites do, plus you get information and tips about PC software and gadgets. The 6 alternatives to Skype for example was a helpful article for those looking for VOIP programs.
#3. Evolutionary Designs
Evolutionary Designs is a fantastic blog about helping you with all things related to design and graphic art. I particularly enjoyed the articles with video tutorials on how to use GIMP like a pro. The blog also features content for bloggers and WordPress tips and information. This is an all around good resource for bloggers or anyone using graphic art programs.
#4. My Purple Butterfly
![]()
A personal diary blog that stands out and proudly disclaims truth, desire and honesty. On My Purple Butterfly you can find daily posts about everything from life lessons, ramblings to what the author enjoyed recently. Recently the site updated with a new theme and post model with specific article topics set depending on day of the week.
#5. Sweets Foods
Blogging, Food and Social Media all in one place is what you can find on Sweets Foods. There are some great post roundup articles which I find the most helpful to see what is popular and good around the blogosphere.
#6. Zolex PC
For PC users who have been infected with malware, Trojans or spyware or those who just don’t know what may be causing their computer problems and slow downs ZolexPC offers live chat support and information to help you improve your computer performance, clean up infected files and protect your computer going forward. Email, Live Chat or Phone support is available and they are a member of the Better Business Bureau and has never had a complaint in the last 3 years of being listed.
#7. iBlogZone
iBlogZone is more than just a typical blogging related blog, this site will teach you tips and provide information on being an entrepreneur period, it doesn’t matter if you are selling products, building websites, blogging or looking for other ways to earn an income online or be a work at home business, you can find quality content here.
#8. Highly Favored
A Christian blog about inspiration and encouragement is what you will find over at Highly Favored, you will find articles that make you feel good or help you think and ponder about a decision or reflection. I found the content well written and inspiring without being preachy to a specific sect of religion, the blog is also written and maintained by Kiesha who runs WeBlogBetter which was one of my top featured blogs earlier in 2010.
#9. Thesis Awesome
Do you use WordPress with the Thesis blog theme, Thesis Awesome is something to consider then. It is a membership site which gives you access to Thesis skins and currently has 5 functional and attractive themes listed. You can buy a specific theme if you don’t want a membership.
#10. The Antiquarian Librarian
This contest was the first time I had seen or even heard about The AntiquarianLibrarian which is a personal blog that includes articles and information about science, technology, history and anything else the Dan Nieman the librarian thinks of. I enjoyed the articles relating to science and it is a type of blog I would read just for the fun of it as well to pick up some information I might not have caught from some science magazines.
In Summary
Congratulations to all the winners of the Featured Contest, I enjoyed sifting through all of the entries to pick the winners and some of you ended who didn’t end up as one of the 10 winners still ended up being added to my RSS reader!
