Top 5 Websites From The Last 5 Years
Ever since 1957, developments in internet technology have been getting better allowing us to do more over the internet. Although here are some of what I think are the some of the best bits of new sites that have been made available to us in more recent years, of course there are the obvious ones such as Youtube which was founded in February 2005 and a year and nine months later bought by Google. It allows not only access to millions of videos but coverage live of big events and a use in media such as including video in articles on the web.
Now for my actual choices. With the increasing popularity of music downloads there have been many record companies and artists complaining about illegal downloads of their music, although with last.fm you can listen to music over the internet. It was free until April 2010, but you can now only listen to small previews of the songs. It also shows where the artist is doing concerts and other artists you might like. This is one of many music-streaming sites but this is the one I mainly use and would recommend.
Another great site is one that you don’t want to go on specially unless you want to see what it is but it’s a great site to play around with when you don’t have anything to do. It’s not a well-known site but Jacksonpollock.org is a website that allows you to draw random pictures with your mouse but the disadvantage is that they can’t be saved without doing a screenshot of the window. The pictures the website can make are in the style of the American painter of the same name.
My next site is another obvious one unfortunately, but I just have to put it in my choices. Founded in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook has become one of the most popular social networks in the world. The amazing thing is that Mark and his roommates managed to start it as a social network for college students of their own college, but it was opened to other college and high school students. Finally it was opened to anyone in the world over the age of 13. The great thing about Facebook is that it not only lets you talk to your friends but lets you get back in touch with old ones that have moved or you lost contact with for some reason. There may have been some privacy issues and safety issues but over the last few months, new features to restrict what people can see and who can contact you have been popping up. I think that given that it started as a college social network, it was done very well.
My last site is meebo.com. It’s an online instant messaging site that lets you log into many social network chat facilities and instant message accounts without having to actually have the programs for those accounts like Windows Live Messenger installed on the computer you are using. I find it useful for when I’m away and want to use MSN. That’s it for my top five sites. I hope you enjoy checking out some of them. Happy Browsing!

I'm in my late 30's, and most of my FB friends are high school or college classmates, so no ""keggers"" in our future!
I've noticed several of my 40 and 50-something family members getting on FB recently. I think to a large degree they do so to keep in touch with (and tabs on) their teenagers. I've also noticed my old classmates using their ""status"" as a way of passive self-promotion for their businesses (several of us are in real estate). Many of my past clients are on FB, so it is a nice way to keep in touch with them, too.
Otherwise, I enjoy catching up with what people have done with their lives and enjoy photos from those I don't see often enough.I guess that's the reason why facebook is among the top five popular websites.
