I have visited and commented on some blogs recently receiving an automated email “thanking” me for commenting and reminding me that if I enjoyed the content, I should subscribe via RSS or bookmark the site.  I was wondering what fellow readers thought of these “automatic” emails that are triggered?  Are they as annoying and unwanted as auto DM’s on Twitter, or is it an acceptable and recommended way to contact someone who leaves a comment on your blog?

I can see the pro’s and con’s of both being that you do get your blog into the reader’s minds, and if they were casual passing by they might remember.  On the other hand, if they didn’t subscribe from leaving a comment chances are your email reminding them to has very little chance of persuading them.

What are my fellow bloggers thoughts about auto emails to commentors?
