Backup Your Blu-Ray or DVD Movies or Create Your Own

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of 123 Media Max. All opinions are 100% mine.

I don’t own a Blu Ray player yet, but was looking at buying a PS3 in the next year and wondering how I would be able to copy my Blu Ray discs, it is just coincidental that I noticed and visited 123 Media Max to look at the software the provide which they claim is a Blu-Ray Copy Breakthrough. If you are a family with children, copying your DVD’s and Blu Ray discs is a must. I had my toddler destroy my Hellboy 2 DVD, and toss several others in the trash when he was little because my DVD library which hosts over 400 purchased movies stands from floor to halfway to the ceiling.

I put all the kids movies on the bottom, but in the end I ended up with scratched, chewed, and discarded discs when my kids were little and trying to play DVD’s themselves or using them like coasters for their toys. For this reason alone I recommend everyone take a backup of all of their home DVD’s or Blu Ray discs and play the movies on the backup instead of the original.

123 Media Max software does more than just copy DVD’s and Blu Ray discs but has so much more capability, including being able to rip all your CD music tracks to MP3 files, a video editor to create your own DVD Titles and menu, or to edit the audio, as well as copying and converting the movies to formats that will play on YouTube, iPOD, Sony PSP or Creative Zen.

This tool will even let you burn DVD’s from MPEG, AVI, WMV or TiVO file formats so you can create your own custom DVD’s add menu’s, transition effects, chapters and more.

The software even supports Dual Layer DVD and Blu Ray disks so you can burn up to 50GB of data and you don’t have to rely on software compression tools to shrink the video quality so it will fit on a single layer disc.

There is a free trial and I downloaded the software and gave it a quick test.

I am running Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate Edition which is about the newest Operating System you can get, installing the program went without issue though it has you open a website and download an additional add-on for copying DVD’s.

For my free trial test I decided to convert a Buzz Lightyear of Star Command episode from an .avi file to a .vob file and burn it to a DVD disc.

The program has a variety of choices at the main menu, and it was easy enough to select DVD and then “Create DVD from video”.

From there I added my AVI file and started the conversion. I tried the “play preview” button and noticed I was only able to see video and not audio, but I assume this is a problem with the video codec used by the program, as I was able to play video fine in VLC viewer and Winamp for the same file.

I didn’t see any ability to add a DVD menu, but you can add titles and transitions between added video clips. I didn’t dig deeper, so I assume there is a way, I just didn’t notice it offhand for this test.

When I clicked submit the program notifies you how long it will take to recode the file.

The problem is that just as the file finishes, it pops up with a Runtime Error for me.

I tried twice with 2 different AVI files with the same result, I don’t know if the problem is because I am running 64bit Windows or what, but I was just never able to get the program to work.

I can’t tell if it is just my system or the program doesn’t work well with Windows 64bit or what, but I know that DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink and other freeware online is no longer supported or updated to work with the latest DVD’s and Blu Ray discs, so if you need a DVD/Blu-Ray or Music backup solution, take a look at 123 Media Max, it has a full package array of features and is a program that is sold at Best Buy, OfficeMax, Staples and more. But I suggest you try the 7 day trial and make sure it works on your system before you purchase it.

I just found it also on the site above and it looks pretty good, not sure if it runs good on 64 bit like you say. Luckily I have 32 bit still so I’ll try it out.

It’s all about technology, that we see floppy, zip drive, cd, cd/rw, dvd, dvd/rw and now blu-ray. we can see the change from floppy to blu-ray, where floppy is just 1.44mb and blu-ray with so many gb.
I am planning to buy a blu-ray dics for myself.

I just bought the PS3 and used mediamax to make a copy of my blu-ray. I watched the blu-ray, then watched the copy. I have to say I was impressed with the blu-ray copy. My computer took about an hour and twenty to burn it. It’s suppose to be an hour but my computer has been running slow lately so I think it had to do with my PC.
