Trying New Blog Earning Sites

Posted by: dragonblogger  //  Category: blogging

I have been experimenting over the past six months with various ways to try and have my blogs bring in some earnings just so it covers my hobby. Basically I want my blog expenses for web hosting, DNS names and maybe some of my time covered by some advertising so this hobby of mine makes at least some money, and I can justify doing it by saying it does earn me a little.

Now, blogging is not an easy way to make money for sure. I have used many services over the past several months and some more intrusive than others. I don’t want my sites to be contaminated with giant banner ads, pop-ups, paid posts and other spam type advertising which will make my readers jump ship and lose interest in the quality posts that I do create.

So I have pretty much decided to stick with a few paid posts here and there, but no pop-ups, or sponsorships, with some Google Adsense mixed in. I am experimenting right now with the following services on my blogs.

JustinGermino.com my personal blog I have dedicated solely to PayU2Blog, as this service does not allow you to perform IZEA paid posts and their service on the same blog. It is one of my best paying services, and you get paid for putting keywords into your posts, for 99% of the posts you don’t even need to write a review, just tuck a paid link into an existing post about any topic and you get paid. This site earns me about $60 – $100 per month.

IZEA’s SocialSpark and PayPerPost are my most successful on Dragonblogger.com but PayPerPost has been very slim pickings lately, SocialSpark has higher quality posts with higher pay rates in my opinion. I can also qualify for much more on SocialSpark, but they have much fewer opportunities than PayPerPost. Many people will knock IZEA, but I only take posts if I believe the product can be placed in my blog and is truly endorsable by me. I won’t take Paid assignments that I don’t feel are good for my blog. Many people jumped on the Passion.com assignments like crazy, but I won’t contaminate a technology blog with an advertisement for a dating site. I would however maybe promote a microsoft, search engine, or something to do with science and technology. Remember to match advertising content to your blog category, personal blogs can promote dating sites, but techology blogs should not.

My latest 2 experiments are BlogToProfit and Neverblue, BlogToProfit just accepted my Dragonblogger.com and I already had 3 $5.50 assignments in my inbox. These seem to work more like PayU2Blog in that you are given a section of text with some links and you include these in your normal blog post. It is a bit more than a simple keyword, but not as intrusive as a full sponsored review in my opinion. So you will see a few of these on Dragonblogger.com over the next few weeks as I experiment with the service.

Neverblue is an affiliate marketing company which allows you to put targeted advertisements on your blog and pays via referrals or follow throughs. This isn’t PPC, so unlike Adsense, you won’t get paid if someone just clicks on the link, they have to follow through and sign up for what you are advertising. I heard many bloggers say they can make hundreds of dollars per month from Neverblue, right now I am experimenting with targeted ads. Maybe some technology related ones on Dragonblogger, and art/book related ones on WandererThoughts.com but so far I am still learning.

Google Adsense I leave up on all my blogs because it is easy, you just leave the ads up and collect a little, but lately this has been about $2 per week on average which doesn’t net me very much.

I will continue to share with you all of the paid blogging services that I use and try out and continue to let my readers know what works best for me. If my blog starts looking too spammy, let me know I am interested to provide as much value as possible, but also try to make some money. I don’t want to compromise my blog integrity on my quest to monetize it however.

These are my top favorite blog income companies right now at this time:

  • PayU2Blog
  • SocialSpark
  • PayPerPost
  • Google Adsense
  • Blogsvertise
  • BlogToProfit

BlogToProfit could easily become higher on the list as I leverage the service and see how much it earns me.

helpful info! but anyway, as for PayPerPost, does it not affect your PR? i have submitted my blog there and got approved but immediately as i posted my first sponsored review from them, my PR dropped to 0 and my friends experienced the same thing with PPP.. any idea why it happened?

I am most curious about BlogToProfit. How long did it take for approval into their site, I’d love to see if may be a avenue I may take as well as it seems IZEA is all about page rank (so hard to find anything with a pr of 0 >.<). That and I think text links may fit better with my blog anyway. Also do they (BlogToProfit) seem to be busier in your opinion with the offers?

I was approved in about 4 days for BlogToProfit, and had 3 assignments in my first week, each paying $5.50. BlogToProfit is very similar to PayU2Blog except they require more than a keyword link, usually a small paragraph in addition to, so a little harder to hide a paid post inside a normal one.

IZEA blogs will do you right if you have a really good RealRank, my RealRank is under 300 so my blog is in the top 300 blogs in the IZEA system as far as traffic, this is why I can get many opps from SocialSpark and only have a PR0. PayPerPost is a little pickier in wanting PR2 or above, but I still can get quite a few opps from them.

But IZEA assignments will hurt your pagerank more than PayU2Blog or BlogToProfit ones due to the sponsorship and paid nature being more obvious.
