To help fellow bloggers set expectations on how much you actually can earn blogging I share all of my blog related earnings with my readers monthly, many people see that you can earn some money blogging but the earnings are not something that will make you rich or even be able to quit your day job for.
I have been blogging since August 23rd 2008 and my earnings for my eight month of blogging were a total of $289.62 for the month, this includes my poetry blog Wanderer Thoughts winning the Best Blog of April 2008 and earning $79.42 USD (was $100 CAD) as a grand prize for winning the blog contest). Even though that was a contest, because I promoted my nomination and actively sought people to vote, I consider it part of my blogging efforts and therefore earnings.
I also included AssociatedContent which is a separate writing site itself, I consider it blogging because I use my blog time to write articles for A/C and many articles on my blog or on A/C I can re-use or promote on my blogs as well. I am not a very active person on A/C only doing one article or two per week, so I earned $12.16 cents from Associated Content from some upfront payment submissions for articles.
My biggest earner month after month since I started blogging is PayU2Blog with $82 dollars in earnings, this is about 16 paid posts I was assigned for the month. I did manage to earn $40 with 3 PayPerPost opps and $33.90 with 3 SocialSpark opps for the month as well. So you can see that if I had done more PPP or SocialSpark opps I would have probably earned more since you can get paid a higher dollar amount per opp if you are choosy with SocialSpark and PayPerPost.
BlogsVertise came in with a few opps for $16 dollars, and I was able to Alpha test the new PayPerPost V4 and earn $7.50 from new opps there as part of the Alpha program.
Google Adsense earned me $17.91 for all my blogs combined which is about average, I am always between $15 and $20 per month in Adsense it seems. Finally Adgitize earned just 73 cents for the month and I have decided to pull Adgitize from all my blogs as it just isn’t worth keeping the 2 125×125 ads for less than a dollar earnings per month. It has never netted me more than a dollar and change per month since I started testing it in January.
These are my earnings all laid out in my tracker spreadsheet, I don’t know if I am doing well or not in comparison to other bloggers, most don’t share their full earnings so I can’t measure my earning success. I do feel that earning as much blogging is a success because this is money earned from writing which I enjoy doing and love to do.
