Bloggers Should Leverage Blog Catalog
I had not been hitting Blog Catalog as hard as I should have the last few months, but that changed last month where I decided to do more networking and socializing on this massive and far reaching blog network. This has netted Blog Catalog as coming in the 2nd slot for referrals to my blog, having more than 200 referrals to my site in 30 days.   Which isn’t bad considering I only spend about 30 minutes to 1 hour per week on Blog Catalog networking, responding to people and searching other blogs that match mine in similar category and topic.
The other good thing about Blog Catalog, is it allows you to post “Broadcasts” to everyone who is in your friends network, now these can be heavily abused and most people just “turn off” the broadcasts so they don’t even see them as emails, but for the few that don’t, a broadcast is a good way to reach some people in your friends network and promote yourself or your sites. The best thing you can do though is give your friends something of interest that makes them want to visit your site, don’t ever just spam a “check out this post” in your broadcast, you should always make sure that your readers are getting something of value.
The only major annoying feature of Blog Catalog is the shoutbox, which can become filled with useless “invited to join this group” or “thanks for visiting” or other useless response messages. Really, a group invitation should not even go into your shoutbox, it is a waste of time to remove them.

So it's like facebook or twitter, only for bloggers? Meaning, one would most likely have to "start from scratch" building a new network within Blog Catalog that you can use to send out your blog posts to?
I'll check it out, but it sounds like a lot of work I must admit. Thanks for sharing.
