Blogging Is Not Only About Making Money

hey..I tried always to be creative..but I can get that avatar only once a week..i write few good posts- most are for other blogs and then nothing much the whole week..

Writing article and promoting those articles go hand in hand in blogging. Thus, once you start promoting your article and get visitors on your blog, you automatically get popular. Blogging is good way to get fame online.

Totally agree with you. I haven't made a fortune blogging in my 7 years blogging, but the fringe benefits are incredible.

Plus my blog managed to get me a job which I never could attain with my "real world" qualifications. So that's my financial rewards :)

Bloggers tend to be outgoing and intelligent people. I have grown so attached to many of my blogy buddies that I actually consider them friends. I've never met them but I even talk to some of them on the phone. I don't blog for money at all. It's 100% personal enjoyment for me.

My initial purpose of setting up own website and blog was to try if I can earn money. I have to admit it. And I realized that its a wrong mindset to start with my blogging career. So I set the thought aside and just share in my blog what I'm passionate about. I did gain a lot of friends and contacts who have been very supportive and helpful.

agreed. blogging isn't just about making money. it should involve passion of the blogger for the subject. if that blogger is writing things on he/she don't like, that's already a job! but I've no idea i a lot of bloggers were like that. most bloggers I know write things about their interest.

Funny thing is that the bloggers who started out "just for fun" (like my friend Wendy http://xiaxue.blogspot.com ) got caught up in a little whirlwind that turned them into huge moneymakers and set the bar unbelievably high for everyone else. This was a refreshing blog because not everyone is blogging for money. Rather than being a moneymaking blog writer, I tend to go more to sites for backlinks, but what happened to me is that I’ve gained so much knowledge from other people’s experiences. So many useful tips are out there. When I go to certain blogs, I can tell who’s doing it to make money and who’s doing it with the true love for what their writing about.

Very good post. When I first started blogging it was a passion because I really love to write.

Obviously now I have given up my offline job it is more about making money for me.

For me blogging is all about expressing oneself and sharing your thoughts.

Solid points, If you lose your passion for blogging and it is just about the "benjamins" then there are probably more constructive things you could be doing with the time.

Without some form or passion and creativity there is not much point in blogging. Over time some money may come, but you cannot live for that or do it for that reason or you will be doomed for failure.

If blogging were all about the money, I certainly wouldn't be doing it. :) I'd be flat broke.

I do it for recognition and to give credibility to my work as a developer and article writer. I do it to stay current. I do it to feed my curious. For some many reasons outside of money.

I DO write HubPages for money, but even that is a total fringe benefit that I happened to stumble on AFTER I had already decided that I wanted to write there.

Do what you love. The money will follow.

I agree with Tracy about devoting your time to blog about something you are passionate about. You could also provide a great educational service for your readers. Supplying them with a wealth of information that can help and improve their lifestyles.
