Blogging Tips – Test All Of Your Blogs Functionality Often
Bloggers, every time you upgrade a plug-in or wordpress version you should try and make a point to test out everything on your blog that you can. This includes confirming your contact me forms are still working, your plug-ins are still rendering properly and any other custom material you have installed still works. One of the mistakes I made is not testing the CForms across my many blogs since converting to the Virtual Private Server last week on my blogs. This has caused all of my Contact Me forms to be non-functional which could have cost me not only useful information but also prevented advertisers from contacting me with opportunities.
Let this be a reminder to my fellow bloggers that any changes to your blog that involve upgrading plug-ins, versions or tweaking stuff should go through regression testing as if it were any other application. If your blog is your business, then take it seriously and treat it like a business. Test all functionality as if you were an end users visiting your own blog, click on what you would want them to click on and make sure the functionality works.
Don’t just test it in a single browser either, you must test in both FireFox and Internet Explorerer, far too often I have found that problems will surface in one browser but not the other. Speaking of this issue, I still have a problem with my World of Prandria blog where my sidebar will not display at all in Internet Explorer, but does in FireFox, I know it has something to do with the style.css but I have not been able to dig into it deeper to resolve the issue.
