Blogging Without A Purpose
One of the biggest questions I get asked by new comers to SocialSpark is how do I start making money with blogging. This is a fair question and is something I am always trying to learn the answer to myself. Before you should think about monetizing your blog however, you need to define your blog purpose.
Your purpose is your entire reason for your blogs existence, your purpose needs to be developed with your potential readers and audience in mind. Your purpose helps keep you focused on what your blog is about and keeps you doing it.
Your purpose cannot simply be to try and make money blogging, because unless you define your blog to provide some value to your readers, you will not get very much traffic and will not be able to profit from your blog in the end.
To help other bloggers with this, I will share my blog purposes. This is what my blogs provide to my readers and would continue to do so whether I monetized my blogs or not.
- DragonBlogger.com is my flagship blog and is my technology and entertainment portal. I use this blog to keep my readers informed about blogging, twitter, freeware, and just about any other technology related topics. I also mix it up with movie reviews and some entertainment and humor related posts once and a while.
- WandererThoughts.com is my poetry and literature blog and I use this as a way to share my poetry with my fans and friends. I also use this blog for my random twitter poetry game, where my fans submit random words and I craft unique poetry containing the words submitted.
- JustinGermino.com is my personal blog and I use this blog to share my insights about living in Arizona, being a parent, being married and whatever else I want to talk about. My value to readers would be some parenting tips, marriage advice and general insight to some things I run across.
So now that you know my blog purposes, I want to hear from my fellow bloggers. Share with me your blog purpose, what are you offering to your readers to keep them engaged and coming back? Leave me a comment or take my socialspark opp for this post. I want to hear from you.
