Running Out Of Hot Water

Posted by: dragonblogger  //  Category: Consumerism

Actually got an assignment about a product I plan on purchasing in the next few years and that is a tankless water heater for my house. We have 3 bathrooms in my home and several family members will be taking showers or baths at the same time which causes us to run out of hot water very quickly. Tankless Water Heaters remove the need for that 50 gallon tank in your garage or basement and heat water on the fly as it flows through the unit and into your faucets. This creates and endless supply of hot water that is on demand rather than wasting electricity keeping your water tank heated throughout the day even though you may only use the water at night or early morning.

Though Tankless Water Heaters are slightly more expensive than traditional water heaters, there is some tax credits of $300 dollars on some models in 2009, and they last typically 2x as long in years, so if you had to buy 2 Water Heaters in 20 years, and only 1 Tankless Water Heater then you would be at the same cost + the benefit of the monthly savings on your electricity bill.

I am in a new house that is 3 years old, so I expect my current water tank to last about 5-7 more years but if it does break down sooner I will be replacing it with a Tankless Water Heater for sure.

Has anyone replaced their Water Heater yet? Do you notice a benefit or disadvantage of the Tankless Water Heater vs the older Tank Model?

I am curious to know.

Need A New Cell Phone?

Posted by: dragonblogger  //  Category: Consumerism, TV Show Reviews

I am one of those people who upgrades their cell phone through my provider every year or two when I can upgrade a phone and renew my service account. I usually get either a discount or a free phone on the lower end. When I saw that bestincellphones.com allows you to get a Blackberry Pearl for free I was absolutely amazed. Seriously, even with contracts directly it costs over $200 to get a nice blackberry even if it is a model a few months old.

But after looking for free verizon phones I found that the offer was a free Blackberry Pearl, with a new Verizon account and with activation waived. This was an excellent way to get a high quality new phone for new cellular subscribers.

Of course all of the best free phone deals are for people willing to purchase a new Cellular company account activation or switch carriers. Like if you were currently with Verizon and wanted to look for new free Sprint phones you can find a wide variety that are free even phones in the $200 - $400 range are free with a new contract.

However I did find many free models for people who are just wanting to upgrade their phone by renewing their contract with your existing carrier. So even if your looking to upgrade and want to look for free Tmobile phones you can find 10 cell phones that are free just for renewing your contract. Some phones like the Nokia 2760 and the Samsung T429 have enough of a rebate that you actually get money back from choosing that phone making you actually gain a credit just from choosing the phone and renewing your contract.

samsung Need A New Cell Phone?

If you were in the market to setup a new account with AT&T and looking for at&t cell phones for example they have the Blackberry Curve 8310 not only for free, but with rebates you actually get $74.99 cash back from a mail in rebate. (The phone actually costs .01 cent, and they give you a $75 mail in rebate, which is kind of odd but still works the same way).

blackberry Need A New Cell Phone?

I have honestly browsed all categories even though I am only with Verizon at the moment and when my contract comes up in a few months I will be looking for the best cell phone deals and it appears that the deals here are much better than just going through your carrier directly, so it is worth shopping around and comparing.

Blogger Socializing Overload

Posted by: dragonblogger  //  Category: Consumerism

I have been extremely busy experimenting with various blogger social networks and keeping up a presence here and there and I am going to suffer burn out pretty soon I imagine.

I continue to have a strong presence on Twitter with my daily Random Twitter Poems, ironically, my poetry blog is very popular but makes n0 money at all, I don’t do paid posts on it, since I really want it to be my purely creative outlet.

I continue to strongly keep a presence on SocialSpark, Zimbio, Entrecard and have added Blog Catalog, Digg and StumbleUpon.

I also do a little on Mixx, Plurk, as well as leaving blog comments and directly engaging other bloggers via their own blogs.

All of this I do within the short 2 hours per day I have to blog, I usually can’t do much during my work hours but send out a tweet and take in a random poem during my lunch break. My whole purpose is to use these social networks to get to know people and have them get to know me, the more people I meet and interface with the better. Building many social networks is key to getting people to know who you are and once you start getting name recognition among enough people your blog can spread via word of mouth or “tweet”.

I am going to have to invest in espresso machines if I keep up with this level of activity.

So Many Extra Photo’s With 2GB SD Card

Posted by: dragonblogger  //  Category: Consumerism

So I swapped out my spouse’s 128mb SD Card for a 2GB SD Card (one of her Xmas presents) and the camera went from being able to take 144 3mb photo’s to over 2100 3mb photo’s now. Now she can go to concerts and shows without ever running out of footage for pics and probably take fifteen minutes of video even if she wanted. I will say though I wanted to use the old SD Card in one of my other camera’s and learned that Fuji uses XD Cards, while others still use a compact flash memory card. I thought everything had been using SD card as a standard now, I remember Sony used to use their proprietary Memory Stick.

So alas, the 128mb SD card is just sitting with no use at all, I would give it a way or sell it but might just keep it as an emergency backup instead.

Acquiring Custom Stamps

Posted by: dragonblogger  //  Category: Consumerism

Who would know that I would ever have needed to order a custom stamp?  Well it turns out that because I help my wife run a Music Production Company that we had to order a custom rubber stamp which we use to stamp guests into our music shows hands.  This is so the guests can step outside to have a cigarette, or go outside and come back into the venue.  Some venue’s require wrist bands instead of allowing just hand stamps so we ordered and use those as well.

Another reason to order a custom stamp is if you are tired of writing your home address on your holiday cards, or envelopes each and every time.  You could use stickers, but once you buy a stamp you will find that stamps in the end are cheaper than just about any other medium.  Stamps also since they still contain ink are a little more “personal” than stickers that contain your name and address label.

So in the end, it turns out that Dragon Blogger had to acquire some custom stamps and you can get them real cheap like under $5 depending on what you are looking for.  It was much cheaper to order them online than to go through Staples, or even Walmart.

Year End Sale On Dragon NaturallySpeaking Software

Posted by: dragonblogger  //  Category: Consumerism

As someone who does blogging as a hobby and maintains four blogs I can tell you that voice recognition software can be a boon to writers, bloggers and anybody who has to type for long and extended periods of time. Dragon Naturally Speaking has amazing voice recognition technology that is extremely accurate (over 99%) not only does it learn and adapt to your accent, but it learns what type of word you meant by sentence structure, think “to, two, too”…etc. The software will allow you to create emails, create documents, take notes and even if you use it to create lists and reminders. The software works and works very well, just check out the demonstration video above if you haven’t already.

Dragon Naturally Speaking 10 Basic with Discount Coupon Code

So now you can get Dragon Naturally Speaking software at amazing discounts on each of the versions of the software, Preferred Edition, Standard Edition or MacSpeech Dictate which uses the Dragon NaturallySpeaking Voice Recognition Engine.

Also, if you own business or are an independent contractor (Eg: professional blogger), and you buy the software you can write it off for your business in 2008. So not only do you get the savings on the product, but you get the tax write off as well if you use Dragon NaturallySpeaking for work. But you can only do this for 2008, if you purchase the product before December 31st.

Once again, Dragon NaturallySpeaking allows you to increase your productivity by using you voice instead of having to manually type out everything you want to say. This can save you hours of time each week and you can actually get almost three times as much put into documents when dictating it verbally than when typing it out manually. This is the average benefit, some people who type slower or faster than normal may see an even greater or slightly less benefit.

Know What The Difference Is Between Super Charger and Turbo Charger For Your Car

Posted by: dragonblogger  //  Category: Consumerism

I drive a Chrysler and a Mercedes-Benz and have wondered whether or not I should put a charger to get more horsepower out of my vehicle. I didn’t know the difference between a mercedes Turbo Charger or a mercedes supercharger until I visited SuperChargerPros.com where they specialize in selling superchargers whether you need a buick supercharger, pontiac supercharger or any other brand and type of car.

Both types of chargers are known as forced induction systems. More power is achieved from each cylinder as a result of using a Super Charger or Turbo Charger. The average improvement is 30-45% over an engine without a charger. The difference between the two types of chargers is a Super Charger has a belt connected to the engine and draws its  power the same way as a water pump or alternator. A Turbo Charger gets its power from the exhaust stream. A turbo charger is more efficient in theory since it utilizes some of the exhaust but isn’t as efficient unless the car is running at higher RPM’s. A Super Charger is easier to install and more efficient at lower RPM’s but has a higher cost on average.

You can find other specific and more detailed information on SuperChargerPros.com website just click on the Learning Center link.

SuperChargerPros prides themselves on their customer service and quality of parts they sell, they offer a full 1 year warranty minimum or longer if the part specifically has a longer one.

To find parts for your car just click on New Part Search and then you can select the Year and Make of your vehicle. You are then brought to a page where you select the model and then you can see and display all available parts for your vehicle.

This company is ideal for people who like enhancing or repairing vehicles themselves in their garage, or for car mechanics who are looking to save money by purchasing car parts at up to 60% off their normal prices.

I encourage anyone who works with cars or wants to learn more about Superchargers or Turbochargers to visit SuperChargerPros.com

Posted by: dragonblogger  //  Category: Consumerism, TV Show Reviews

Have you ever wondered how to unlock an iphone to make it work with any Cell Phone Service Provider? I do think people should have the ability to use any phone with any service and the iPhone being the most popular and one of the most advanced cell phones on the market should be available to those locked in contracts with other service providers.

iPhone Unlocker has a great solution to unlock iphone with a program you download. If you visit their FAQ page their solution works with all iPhone models and software versions, even ones that are updated with iTunes.

There is no need to even register your iPhone on the AT&T or O2 networks, you can just buy an iPhone and unlock it and use it with any subscriber. Their software is compatible with Windows or Mac PC’s and they offer lifetime upgrades and support, so if your iPhone is patched and becomes locked again, you will never have to pay to unlock it in the future. This way you can download and update your iPhone version when you want to.

They promise no features are lost in any way when unlocking your iPhone and it is compatible in any country. Iphone Unlocker has 365 day round the clock technical support and if you are not satisfied with your iPhone or service after you have it unlocked they offer a 30 day money back guarantee.

If you have an iPhone and don’t want to stay with your current carrier, or you are with another carrier and want to use an iPhone I recommend you give iPhone Unlocker a try.

Interesting Tidbits About George Washington

Posted by: dragonblogger  //  Category: Consumerism

I was researching into some information and stumbled across an older article about how scientists have analyzed and scanned George Washington’s dentures to identify their make up and composition. Contrary to popular belief his dentures were not made out of wood, he had no wooden teeth even though that is a common story that even that I had heard. He actually had four sets of dentures and one of those was fashioned out of Hippopotamus ivory. The other sets were fashioned out of gold, lead and human and animal teeth which also was a sign of the times. Lead was commonly used for purposes that caused illness and disease due to people not realizing the toxicity of the metal. The dentures themselves were held together with bolts and had springs in them to help them open and close. Kind of archaic devices, It’s not like it is nowadays where he could have gone to have a professional Washington DC teeth whitening. You were stuck in the times with either rotting and lost teeth or having to use dentures. Fluoride was not invented yet, so they did brush teeth with bristles and a variety of pastes and water, but this did not protect and strengthen teeth but only helped clean the surface debris off of teeth.

Other things I learned about George Washington is that he was the most active and physically fit of all the founding presidents of the United States, he was also a dancer and a horseman. There has been much research into the last few years into piecing together more of the life of the founder of our country as those didn’t want him to be portrayed as just this stoic solemn face on the Dollar Bill. One other thing I didn’t know is that by marrying into wealth George Washington had become the richest man in Virginia at the time and arguably the richest man out of the 13 colonies. It is widely held that he did not die of the common cold but of a Tonsil infection that spread into pneumonia which ended his life.

Dragon Blogger Had To Have IHOP For Breakfast

Posted by: dragonblogger  //  Category: Consumerism

I found myself going to IHOP for breakfast with the family today and we frequent the IHOP in Casa Grande about two or three times in a single week.  I am actually not a fan of IHOP Lunch and Dinner menu having eaten and wound up dissatisfied with several lunch and dinner entrée’s .  However IHOP is a staple when it comes to breakfast meals and this morning I was so thoroughly amazed at how delicious the special was I decided to write a post about it.

Today I ordered their monthly special item called “Apple Cinnamon Coffee Cake Pancake Sampler Platter” and I shared this entrée with both of my kids as it is a lot of food.  This comes with 2 eggs any style you like, 2 pieces of bacon, 2 sausage links, 2 slices of ham, hashbrowns and 2 sweet buttermilk pancakes with Apples, cinnamon, icing and brown sugar crumbles on top.  Since I don’t like bacon very much I always sub out the 2 back for 3 sausage and 3 ham slices instead.

The scrambled eggs always come out good, the sausage links are better than most other breakfast places and the ham slices are also delicious.  The pancakes today were outstanding, the cinnamon, apple and brown sugar crumbles it was like I was eating heaven served up on a plate.  Seriously I just sat enjoying barely able to keep from groaning at the flavor my tongue and tastebuds in ecstacy.

I warn you though this great entree comes at a high calorie price and even people who aren’t dieting will have a thought about weight loss products after indulging in this high carbohydrate and calorie dense meal.  I even split my breakfast with two kids and I knew I must have eaten 800 calories, this meal by itself would probably be at least 1500 calories I think.

Regardless, life is too short to deprive yourself of the sweet pleasures of a fine breakfast and IHOP’s latest Coffee Cake pancake combo’s are among the most flavorful and delicious breakfasts I have eaten in a while.  I could not recommend them more.  This post is not endorsed or sponsored by IHOP in any way, I am just writing about something I really enjoy.
