This is kind of a mix of technology and personal post, I mean it is about human beings becoming so reliant on mobile devices for everything that when one is left behind we are incomplete. An example of this is that I use my blackberry as my primary device for phone, email, texting….etc. I didn’t even think twice when I decided the other week to go out on a date and leave my blackberry home so there would be no distractions. In doing so I realized just how much I rely on my blackberry to tell time as well as the rest.

Without a watch and my blackberry I was clueless and had absolutely no way to keep track of time while I was out, this left me constantly worrying I would be late for a movie, or what time it was. It was a terrible feeling not knowing what time it is, and how close it is until you have to leave to watch a movie. I realized that a simple device like my blackberry was so much my lifeline for more than just email and phone calls.

It is a shame that humans are finding it harder to “do without” technological devices that didn’t even exist fifteen years ago. Will our next generation of children even be able to read a traditional clock with hour hands and minute hands, or will we be completely digital. As it is now most people depend on calculators, cash registers and software to perform mathematic equations so that they don’t have to add up change, or calculate anything in their own head anymore.

Technology is a boon but it also is definitely going to increase a reliance that will make humans ever more prone to being unable to do certain things without them, which is quite scary really. I was thinking all of this just from not having my Blackberry on my hip and wishing that I remembered to wear one of my Sector watches when going out if I am going to leave my Blackberry at home.
