Using Digsby for Twitter and LinkedIn
Posted by: dragonblogger // Category: Internet, bloggingI doing some experimentation with the Digsby application, I have learned that it can tie into Twitter and LinkedIn in addition to Myspace, Facebook, and just about any other IM or Social Networking client. No Pownce or Plurk yet however but I am sure that is only a matter of time before it is integrated with Digsby.
So Digsby is very quick and displaying your followers tweets, replies and direct messages, and you simply double click on the twitter area and you can craft your own tweet. It however lacks several major features that will prevent it from replacing Tweetdeck for me.
Some disadvantages are as follows and the first being that Digsby only shows the twitter tweets when you left click, and if you move your mouse away then the window disappears. I want my tweets to be visible at all times, I also wish it showed replies, directs and followers in same window like tweetdeck or twirl instead of having only 1 column at a time. It does not appear to have TinyURL built in, so you have to add the step to compress your URL’s before you post them.
Now for LinkedIn the Digsby is excellent as I don’t log into my LinkedIn account that often, and at a glance I can see which of my followers have done updates, grown their networks and double clicking automatically opens the LinkedIn homepage with my ID already signed in.
Digsby is an incredible little client able to consolidate multiple networks into a single client resource, and If you use Twitter, Myspace, Facebook, AIM, Yahoo Messenger, LinkedIn then this application is right for you as you can manage all of this from a single client. Albeit, it doesn’t do Twitter as well as TweetDeck, it still does a decent job and if you are using it for other networks you mine as well let it manage Twitter as well.
Here is a screenshot showing what the Twitter interface looks like (Click for Larger View):

I would recommend anyone to use Digsby to help manage all of your social networks in a single common client.
