Do FaceBook Fan Pages Hurt your Blog Traffic?

I haven't create facebook fanpage for my blog till yet.But after reading your post and all comments,i have dropped my idea to create it.I agree with you that there will be less people who will going to visit your site after reading even the summary of your post. Thanks for creating such kind of discussion.

Interesting I was planning on building a facebook page in order to drive more traffic to my blog. It is interesting to see you experience the negative traffic effects on your blog after implementing a fan page. I will make sure I dig a little deeper before going ahead with a fan page. Thank you!

Now i find facebook fan pages in almost each and every blog ! This but seriously hampers blog loading speed , but i removed it , and i have linked Follow Blog on Networked Blogs which i think is more mind-boggling than Fan pages , Traffic from Facebook is good :)

I think its not the effect of the fan page but there might be a little problem with the content of your website. but in other hand, if you are sharing those contents on your fan page and not an excerpt, they might think that its easier to read on your facebook fanpage rather than visiting your domain.

I post links on my Facebook Fan page to other sites and stuff I find interesting online. This is on top of links to my own posts. I prefer to comment on the actual blog than on FB and use FB more of a reader more than anything else.

Traffic-wise right now it does help a bit but not as much as I'd like.

I can't say that I've seen a substantive increase or decrease in traffic as a result to the Fan page. It appears to be just another tool in the arsenal for getting the word out. Some people swear by their FB pages, but they are also spending a great amount of time building them up, where I'd argue the same amount of time is better spent building up your own pages on your own domain.

I am planning to put up a fan page if ever i will have fan page many people are starting to see and get our status updates via the Facebook fan page they can read them on Facebook and have no need to visit the site as often. I didn't find a drop in traffic. It could have to do with how you approach the Facebook page. I don't syndicate all my content to Facebook, but I do link to my posts via my Facebook profile. The idea is that you can use FB as a "teaser" or a way to reach out to people who may not otherwise visit your site on a regular basis.

While you're experiencing drops in blog traffic, how about Facebook? In my personal experience, this is a temporary condition. You may give it another 2 months to review the effects. :) BlazingMind is right. It depends on how you share the content. Personally I don't place 'full' content in fan page but just excerpts (this can be done via FB application which I wrote about it in the post, try to look up RSS Graffiti and stop using Notes to import your blog post).

I found that my traffic increased a small amount after building a FaceBook fanpage, but I think it also depends on what you place on the fanpage that makes a difference.

I don't have a fan page yet so I can't say anything relevant. I have read, however, that FB fan pages show up on the search engines so at least it can help your blog get discovered. That of course requires web visitors to make an extra click so they end up on your blog. Let's keep our fingers crossed that they've the time and patience to do just that. :)

I noticed a small drop in traffic. But I did see my traffic from Facebook go up just a little. Before I added the fan page my traffic was next to nothing. I think after you have a larger following on the fan page maybe your numbers will even back out.

When I join a fan book page, I generally use it as way to find out when a blog is updated. I generally have Facebook open more than I do my Google reader and Twitter. But I almost never read it from Facebook, I find it a bit boring and if I am going to comment I still have to go to the site anyways.
