Dolphin Bubbles – SeaWorld’s Blog About Dolphins

I didn’t know that dolphins create bubble rings and play with them underwater, it is an amazing feat to see and just shows how creative and artistic these creatures are. So when I discovered that Seaword had a website that talked about dolphin bubbles and all things related to dolphins I decided to mosey on over and read some blog posts.

This blog is about people talking about their experiences at Sea World and specifically with the dolphins, SeaWorld has one of the most famous Swim with Dolphin exhibits anywhere and though I have visited Seaworld with my family a few times, I hadn’t had the chance to try this attraction which I most certainly will the next time I visit.

I think the blog should have a “Dolphin Facts” page which has a wiki type list of all unique and interesting tidbits about dolphins, maybe they will put one up after this post. The bubbles thing is fascinating, I hadn’t seen it before even on the Discovery channel.

Not the same. First of all, dolphins are comparable in intelligence to humans. Second, the oceans are not disappearing like jungle habitats. Sea World is a prison, and the dolphins know they are imprisoned. Sea World is in no way an attempt to save the Dolphins; it's totally mercenary. They buy their dolphins from the very people who are murdering them. The zoo comparison is a red herring.

So, if someone locked you in a cell and gave you good food, drink, and a plasma TV with Netflix and premium cable, you wouldn't be imprisoned? That seems perverse. Flipper, the dolphin from the 60s television show, committed suicide; she forced herself to stop breathing. It's the "smiles" that are deceptive.

I know how the net is, and I'm not just trying to give you a hard time here or take you down. These are highly intelligent creatures who should not be in captivity. Think about it.

Yes, the same is true of Zoo's isn't it? Elephants, Lions, Tigers, Bears....etc Zoo's are keeping animals caged at the expense of the animal's "sanity" or normal life. There is a slight difference here, by keeping animals in public type situations it raises awareness, and makes the public care about them which in turns leads to donations, sanctions and other means of protecting species. If people didn't "see" smiling dolphins and how friendly, trainable they were first hand in SeaWorld or other types of aquariums then less people would care what is happening to them. Same thing applies with Whale Wars which I follow and I support the Sea Shepherds in their actions to help stop whaling, it raises awareness which is key to making the public care. Just my opinion, I think Zoo's and places like Seaworld do the best they can balancing all of this.

I can't believe you're this insensitive to the imprisonment of these remarkable creatures. Watch the documentary, "The Cove." And BTW, did you know the Flipper (the TV dolphin) committed suicide? Those aren't smiles you're seeing.

I hardly would compare the dolphins trained for entertainment and pampered at Sea World to The Cove where they are slaughtered by the thousands. Maybe they are in captivity and not free swimming, but they are still pampered as far as animals are concerned.
