Dragon Blogger Earnings for July 2009

Posted by: dragonblogger  //  Category: blogging

Every month I share my blog related earnings with my readers so people who are either blogging or thinking about blogging can see what kind of income potential they can have with a blog. Now I don’t make nearly as much as some of the really successful blogs, but after digging around and knowing many bloggers I probably earn somewhere in the top 20% of bloggers online since many bloggers make very little to nothing with their blogs.

Blog Earnings

My poetry blog did not earn any money this month, other than what was factored in the Adsense which wasn’t very much, it is still my 2nd most popular blog but poetry is just not an easy thing to monetize. SocialSpark reigns supreme this month for blog earnings, and would have won even if I hadn’t qualified for single $100 paid post on the last few days of the month. SocialSpark continues to impress me with its quality advertising and high blogger payout for their opportunities. They had some opps listed for $300 or more per opp for bloggers who qualified, I am yet to qualify for these crazy high amounts.

PayU2Blog provides a stable amount each month on my personal blog and this month was a little lower than some previous but welcome nonetheless, PayU2Blog and SocialSpark are my two biggest income earners for the month. Finally I did earn just over $18 in AdSense this month which was decent, but I would still like to reach fifty to one hundred dollars per month with AdSense, I may reach this eventually it will just take time. This was the second month that a direct advertiser came to me and paid me for a direct post, which was a nice little bonus earning to be able to write a post and get paid for it the same day.

This month I spent my blog money taking my family to see Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, and I bought a Wii Game for my five year old. My blog money is almost all fun money, and I use most of it to treat the family to some fun things for letting me spend some time blogging.

Good luck earning out there everyone, and if you have any questions at all I am happy to help fellow bloggers earn by sharing everything I have done so far.

Now that’s a nice little profit you’ve made last month, I always seem to get some terrible review options from SponsoredReviews, lately they’ve been a spate of adult sites and the like, social spark is usually my best earner very much like yourself, and the hard work you put into your blogging is certainly paying off ;)

Almost hit that $300 mark. I think its great you take your family out with your blog income. I recently bought my girlfriend and I new laptops with my blog income. It feels good to make money from blogging. Long way to go to make a full time income from it. :)

Thanks for sharing your blog earnings. Interesting to see what someone in the top 20% is earning. I haven’t thought about monetizing my blog yet but I’d definitely like to supplement my income with blog earnings at some point. What I’d really like to know is how much time do you spend daily on blog related activities? Try and be as realistic as you can. It’s only when the hours dedicated to blogging are factored in that we can see if it’s worthwhile.

I have mentioned this before, right now I am consuming an average of 2 hours per day blogging, but I often do 3 or 4 hours on weekend nights. My earnings make me about the equiv of $2.00 per hour blogging right now, which is vastly under the minimum wage. That being said, having done one paid post for $100 that took me 1/2 an hour to do was the equiv of $200 per hour for a single paid post, so it is encouraging for the future.

Thanks for that. I guess the first thing I have to do is get my daily blogging time up. Not easy when you have a day job and a family who also need your free time.

I hear that, I work a full time day job, have a wife and two kids, I do more than 60 hours a week at my day job, leaves blogging time for late night when everyone is a sleep typically.

Very nice earnings. I wouldn’t mind having that income on a monthly basis just for blogging, even though the hours you put in, would still make you below minimum wage.

Much of my income is for “Paid Posts” not CPC opps from SocialSpark, you can tell which ones I did just by looking for the SocialSpark button at the end of the posts, the neoHD was my biggest paying post so far ever.
