Dragon Blogger Earnings for May 2009 and YTD Totals
Posted by: dragonblogger // Category: bloggingI share with my readers and fellow bloggers every month just how much I earn from blogging, this is in good faith to show other bloggers and people who want to start blogging that you can make some money blogging, but the amount you make amounts to a very low dollar per hour ratio. I earned a total of $216 dollars in May 2009 for my combined blogs, and this yielded me an average of $2.70 cents per hour as I factored that I put in about 80 hours of blog time for the whole month, averaging twenty hours per week.
For the first time ever however, SocialSpark has earned me through posts and Cost Per Click programs more than any other online paying program out there, having earned $92.33 for my combined paid blog posts and CPC programs. I had one CPC program net me over $28 dollars, $28 dollars all from sending just a few tweets per week promoting a product I use myself seemed like a good deal and still is. If you count that I only spent about 20 minutes doing all the tweets, doing my CPC program through SocialSpark nets me an average of just over $80 per hour spend working to promote it, which is the most profitable program I have come across so far. It is however very hit and miss, some programs get no clicks or very few, and others are widely successful, so I once again urge readers only to promote products they are comfortable promoting and truly stand behind.
My second best income earner is PayU2Blog which is usually my best income earner for my blogs, it netted me $75 in assignments for May, I also had a slighly higher Google Adsense earning at around $28 for the month which is almost double my normal Google Adsense earnings for a single month.
I also get paid a bit for Associated Content, which includes some up front article payments, you get an average of $5 per blog post, but only about $2.20 for an Associated Content article, but in the long run having dozens and hundreds of A/C articles will help generate some extra PPV income just from having pageviews, so that probably will rise over time as I invest in more articles there.
In following Damien Riley’s lead, I have also posted my total earnings from Jan – May so far this year, and I have earned a total of $1075 dollars income from my blogging and related online activities in just the first five months of the year. This is a pretty good side income if you want to save up for Xmas presents, or have some extra spending money toward the end of the year. Provided you can keep your Paypal account untouched and keep it like a “holiday” account only to be used for gift giving and special occasions.
So to all you bloggers out there, if you are doing better than myself, congratulations, you are truly very successful and if you are just starting out or earning less, just know that it is possible to achieve some decent earnings, write the posts, find ways to market and bring in some traffic and you will start to see some earnings. Note: I would be earning much more if my blogs were a PR2 or higher, because my primary blogs are PR0, it really negates my opps. A PR4 or higher blog will get far more assignments and qualify for much higher paying blog posts, so just know that at the moment, the higher the PR of your blog, the more you will earn.
All in all, I average about $175 per month earnings, with my highest month being $280 and my lowest being $154.32, my goal is to hit around $500 per month earnings by December 2009, but this will be a very tough goal to reach.

Hi there. Should I call you dragon blogger or Justin? Looks like you are having fun at Cabo while still earning passive income on your blogs.
That’s very nice! Wondering what you actually do for living. Anyway, I am surprise that SocialSpark actually make you some money. That’s great news. I don’t think getting $500 per month is not that far, if you can get 5x more traffic, you can pretty much achieve that.

I should note that I earned nothing while on vacation, so my blog earning isn’t really passive except for my Google adsense which actually only earns me about 20 per month.

Keep at it Dragon, I think $500/month is an obtainable goal. You’re already ahead of at least 95% of bloggers in income.

Thank you, yeah its a tough goal to reach. I seem to be stuck at around 150 – 200 consistantly lately, maybe my increased PR for Dragonblogger.com will help with that.
