I haven’t seen any 3D films either though I hear the 3D TV’s and glasses are not as good as the theater, the glasses are expensive and I hear the TV effect and flickering from ambient room lights can give serious eye strain.

So not only did I miss Avatar in 3D, but I also haven’t seen ANY of the 3D movies that have recently come out. We’ve been really busy, but we’re planning to watch at least one in January on vacation.
Aren’t they supposed to have 3D enabled tv’s now? I think I saw them on sale at Best Buy? I would definitely consider re-watching Avatar in 3D if I get the chance.

Star Trek is the ultimate fantasy/reality show in my life, all incarnations of it. They did a beautiful job with the aliens; I’m not going to take that away from them. I actually wrote a review of the movie myself back in January if you want to see it:

But of course the movie was not original in it’s story and similarities between Europeans vs Native Americans as well as other tribal cultures resonates. One reason why the movie was so enjoyable to me was the sheer imagination and effort put in into detailing an alien world, the life forms from animal to plant were so carefully developed. I have always been enamored with Sci-Fi and the possibility of other worlds containing sentient life, blame it on watching too much Star Trek as a kid.

I actually thought the movie was just okay, not great, and only really got going once the action scenes came. I know how popular the movie is, but from a perspective I’m not sure you’d get, my wife, who liked it a little better than I did, still complained “yup, once again a white man has to come in and save stupid savages from being annihilated.” And what could I say?
