So last night before the storm I noticed some odd dark brown coloration on my front Jacaranda tree, this morning it turns out thousands of bee’s decided to nest in my front tree. I don’t know how they could have clustered so fast, I didn’t notice them the last several days, but they must have started building this nest days ago from the size and quantity of the bee’s.

Arizona bee’s are agressive, I am not a bee expert so I don’t know if the are Africanized Honey Bee’s or regular Honey Bee’s, or even if they are honey bee’s. All I know is I have two little children, and I don’t need anyone stung. So I called Arizona’s Best Choice, which is my local exterminating company for the last 5 years. They are sending someone out this afternoon to remove the bee’s and I am glad they responded so quickly. I only wish my bi-monthly service and regular payments covered bee removal, apparently it is an extra fee.

So here are some pictures of the cluster of bee’s in my small Jacaranda tree in the front.

While we are on the subject of bee’s, I have been reading more and more over the past months about CCD (Colony Collapse Disorder) which is affecting 90% of all bee populations across the country. Honey prices are going to climb as a result of so many bee farms losing their bee colonies to this mysterious condition. Nobody knows if it is a virus that causes bee’s to just “go missing” and abandon their colonies, or if it is some environmental factor.
