I have been a huge fan of the Deadliest Catch series showing one of the most dangerous jobs in the world, and when the makers of that series decided to tackle one of the roughest jobs in Texas which happens to also be one of the most lucrative, I decided to tune in for a few episodes to see what truTV’s Black Gold was all about.

From seeing truTV’s Black Gold trailer you know that this is a reality show capturing the lives of Texas roughnecks working on the oil fields and refineries where it takes hard work, guts and luck all combined to be successful in this industry.

You can see just from this short trailer clip on the kind of working condition these men are subjected to, this requires nerves of steel and being able to handle the most savage criticism from employers:

If you want to get a taste and feel for what it is like to work in the oil business on the front lines, you should check out truTV’s Black Gold drilling where you can see the dangerous working conditions, tough coworkers and even tougher bosses and how they work people to the bone to get things done and done right in the short amount of time they have to find and extract oil.

Personally I don’t think I would do very well under the pressure of an employee review such as seen in this video below:

So if you haven’t seen TruTV’s Black Gold yet, you should check the show out. Especially if you are a fan of Deadliest Catch and Ice Road Truckers which are made by the same creators. This is definitely one show that will give you either more or less respect for the men working the front lines drilling for Black Gold.
