Electric Cars Mile Per Gallon is Misleading
I am just as interested as anyone else is in the future of electric cars and finally getting automobiles off of gasoline power, but when the latest car manufacturers are stating that their new electric cars are getting 200+ mpg, you have to think, what is the catch here?
The catch is simple, in many cases these cars are still combining and having some fallback to gasoline so they estimate the amount of driving that is done and come up with an estimate on how often you would have to actually refuel the vehicle with gasoline. The problem is just because a car is getting 200+ miles per gallon, means it is cheaper on your wallet. I have yet to see a study that shows how the cost of charging your electric car in your house compares to the miles per dollar. We should not be comparing electric vehicles in a miles per gallon way anymore at all, but instead be factoring in the simple “cost per gallon” ratio and compare it to gasoline based engine at base gasoline average rates.
If it is costing you $5 a night to charge your electric car, this is $150 a month in electricity used to charge your car, this may equal or exceed the cost people pay in fuel efficient gasoline based vehicles. In addition, is drawing the electricity from your grid that much greener? I mean don’t forget most of the power used to power the grid is still not coming from renewable clean energy.
Unless we can completely make grid power come from green energy, I don’t think electric cars are as efficient and energy saving as one would claim. Think of all the energy wasted leaving your cars plugged in at night and multiply that by tens of thousands if not more. We could be seeing more brownouts in the country if these electric cars were to sell like hotcakes I would think.

Electric Cars are the eco-friendly vehicles. More competition has been seen already in the companies regarding the electric cars.Hydrogen technology in the vehicles are very much important in order to reduce the problem of global warming.
