Entrecard in an effort to generate revenue and provide requested end user features is now opening the Entrecard advertising network to third party advertisers. This means that advertisers can buy part of the entrecard adspace on someones blog, up to 50% of the ad space. This change allows Entrecard to monetize and bring in money but also allows entrecard to offer a cash for entrecard system.
In the near future Entrecard users will be able to sell their Entrecredits for cash payments being able to cash in their entrecredits. I don’t know what the value or packages will be, but this could be a beneficial tool to the blogs that collect massive amounts of credits on a daily and weekly basis. Entrecard is still allowing users the ability to deny specific advertisers on their site, but they must pay some of the entrecredits to reject the ad.
I have been a big proponent of Entrecard over the past six months and it has been a wonderful tool for my blogs, this new direction does concern me a little. I am concerned that “low quality” advertisers will purchase ads on many blogs and this will devalue and deface some high quality blogs that don’t usually pander to such types of advertising.
For Entrecard users to be penalized for rejecting ads is only going to cause many Entrecard users to drop. That being said many bloggers use Adgitize and I have seen some advertisements on Adgitize that I wouldn’t prefer to have on my blogs, but because I am part of the network I live with it for now. The real thing here is now when you purchase ad slots on someone elses blog you are not necessarily getting 100% of the time for your advertisement. Up to 50% of the time will be advertiser time, and you are only getting half the value for your purchase that you were getting previously.
My prediction is the advertisers will buy into the blogs that have high visitor traffic and EC ratings, and probably the little blogs will be the best bang for the buck advertising.
This was the inevitable only direction Entrecard could have gone to keep sustaining and growing itself as a company, they had to be able to make an income from advertiser dollars. I just hope this translates into its users being able to get a portion and value from the network and I hope Entrecard is a stringent about their advertisers as they are about what blogs qualify into their systems.

I saw a moderator comment that said the cost to reject an ad would not be very high. I really hate how a few bloggers are flipping out about this, I wish they would just wait will it comes out.
Like you said, this will only greatly affect the really high ranked blogs.

The good news is that there is no longer a fee to reject ads, but we are still waiting for a clarification on the rejection process setup.
I do enjoy Entrecard, and networking with other bloggers, but the quality of the ads being displayed is a major issue for many of us, and we have to be able to have full control over it. Hopefully, everything will turn out for the best!
