When I was on FireFox 3.5 I noticed that EC dropping got slower, way slower. I am glad that I found FasterFox 3.5 which supports the latest version of FireFox, again it is an experimental plug-in that isn’t found in the main plug-in browsing section. Once downloaded and installed it greatly improved my FireFox load times for most sites that I visit.
My one big problem is I still have trouble when trying to load 5-8 websites at the same time, and it all tends to happen while EC dropping, I don’t know if the blogs themselves are slow, or if it is my internet connection, but I get alot of page timeouts and sections of pages including the EC badge times out.
Though FasterFox did gain me better performance, I am still having trouble opening 10-15 tabs to various sites at the same time, I think my overall internet connection has gotten worse, or this happened since I upgraded to Vista several months ago. I used to be able to open 20 pages at the same time and they all load fairly fast, now if I load more than 3 or four at the same time, I suffer page timeouts.
This happens with FireFox and Chrome, so I think something is not tuned for optimum broadband in my OS, even though VISTA is supposed to be tuned by default. I will have to keep experimenting further.

Do you think it may have something to do with the tcp/ip setting that Vista has? It only allows 10 concurrent connections at a time, supposedly to slow down malware and worms. I’ve been suffering a similar plight as you with my connection. I discovered a few tcp/ip connections overloads/drop outs when I checked my Administrator Events. Unfortunately, I don’t know how to fix it– I’d heard of a download that patches it, but I am wary of that.
If you discover the problem, let me know!

I have been experimenting with Minefield which is the FF 3.7 release right now and it seems faster than 3.5 even.
