Finding Time To Play My Wii

Posted by: dragonblogger  //  Category: Consumerism

I should carve out more time to play my Wii, I do enjoy playing Super Smash Bros Brawl with my 5 year old boy, and I do find time to do Wii Fit a few times per week, but lately my exercise routine has used my Iron Gym and Weight Bench more than my Wii Fit.

So my 27″ Television sits in the child’s play room on a makeshift tv stand to elevate it to proper height to play Wii while standing up. I don’t like sitting down and playing the Wii, I like standing so at least I can be somewhat mobile. As a result I put an old monitor stand under the 27″ Television which supports it, but it is too small and I should use something more sturdy.

Ideally I would like to eventually replace the CRT television with a flat screen TV I could mount on the wall at proper eye level, but because my kids are really little, I would need to be able to adjust the TV up and down based on when I play the games standing up or when my kids do. I wonder if they make a wall mount where you can kind of slide the TV up and down vertically. I will have to research that for the future.

Meanwhile, the Wii is the best console if you have little kids in my opinion. With all the Mario games, party games and relatively family friendly titles the whole family can get in and play at the same time. Though you should have a big TV, a small 27″ TV when it splits the screen 4 ways makes it a little hard to see your 1/4 of the screen well.

I still would like to see better role playing games for the Wii, ones that have depth and story. I have been disappointed by the reviews on all of the existing ones to be released, so I am still waiting for a superb RPG to release hopefully this year.

    Hi there Justin!

Your wall mount that slides up and down is a GREAT idea. Maybe you won’t find one ready to buy, but perhaps you could find someone to help you make one (if not make one yourself). The mechanics are not so complex and maybe even a student from a technical school of industrial design could help with an idea for that as a project.

By the way, I’m finding your blog really interesting to read. Keep up the good writing.

Thanks, when I get a flat screen TV, I may try to jury rig something.
