FireFox 4.0 Coming in Late 2010

Mozilla releases its road map and Firefox 4.0 is slated for an October / November 2010 release.Â Prior to 4.0 there will be a FireFox 3.6 and 3.7 with improvements centered around javascript performance, form completion and page rendering and load times.Â Personally I think FireFox 3.5 when opening a folder with multiple tabs has poor performance loading several pages at once and even with sockets changed, it isn’t threaded enough and times out several pages.

I do however think Firefox is still the best browser out of the Internet Explorer, Chrome, Opera, Safari roundup and if the continue innovation and improving performance, they will continue to eat way into Microsofts lead.

Firefox needs to improve and needs to backup with their claims on their actual product performance. I think Firefox 3.5 wasn't really good and I've switched back to Firefox 3.0, I mean what's the use of it if it's eating more memory and is sluggish? I hate one thing and that when Firefox gets sluggish. Granted that plugins eat up a lot but even Firefox without plugins eats lots of memory, they need to wipe out these bugs. Although their plugins are great and I use it and it's my favorite browser but I am afraid to say at the moment it's Vista in browsers market.

But it's definitely better than IE and Opera. I haven't tried Safari much but any browser which offers that many extensions as Firefox, it has to be great and better than any other browser.

I also using firefox. I felt that it is faster compared to IE. Never tried the other browsers yet.

Hi,

i use the "newest" version of firefox... Minefield!

This is a cool version, very fast with tabbed browsing. I could open more than 30 or 50 windows and with 2 GB RAM you can work smoothly :)

But the add-ins don't work as it's kind of a Alpha-version of the next Firefox (you can use both, but you can only open one of them as they use the same profiles).

I will be testing minefield tonight, to see if it is faster than Safari and FF 3.5, I see it uses the FF 3.7 alpha 1 right now.

I haven't tried Chrome since it doesn't work on a Mac, but safari doesn't have any problems with tabbed browsing as far as I'm concerned, but you may have different expectations?

Right now I have around 20 tabs open in my Firefox - that's how I do tabbed browsing :)

I also prefer Firefox, mostly because of all the plugins. Speed-wise and general use, I'd rather use Safari.

Hopefully Mozilla will soon be able to speed up the browser so it doesn't take as much memory as it does (sometimes, much better in 3.5 than earlier versions, of course) - but it can still hang every now and then.

I haven't tried multiple tab browsing in safari yet to see how its speed stacks up, will have to test it. It is faster for you than Firefox or chrome?

I also think Firefox is the best browser. I like Google Chrome but it has problems when editing on Wordpress. Some Java applets doesn't work well too with Chrome.
