Five of the best Smartphones in the world today

In 2009 there was a huge smart phone buzz – forums were at high capacity, rumours were being flown around and now that we are in 2010 everything seems to be dying down; well, dying down for the time being anyway.
And so with little buzz, other than Motorola Droid owners getting their much craved over Android 2.1 update, there does not seem to be many people that interested in smart phones at the moment. But then again, all it takes is a Google employee to tweet something and hey presto – you have a buzz – what this might be then is ‘the calm before the storm’ < slack water if you like.
There are so many Smartphones out there now that you are spoilt for choice — spoilt I say! And for some people (not all) choosing the right Smartphone can seem a little daunting, especially with the pressure of being labelled an ‘Apple fanboy’ for having an iPhone or a ‘Geek’ for owning a Nexus One. I have compiled a list of Five of the best Smartphones in the world today because of just how many of these handsets there are on the market.
Hopefully, this list will give you an insight into the ones you should be looking out for;

Palm Pre

The Pre is almost certainly, if not definitely, the best smart phone in the world for multi tasking. The Pre will manage everything all at once seamlessly without so much as a sweat – quite literally, as battery life for all this multi tasking is pretty good. The Pre has the ability to link contacts, combine messaging and supports universal search. Features include Wifi, bluetooth, a QWERTY slide up keyboard, assisted GPS, a 320×480 24-bit TFT colour fully capacitive touch screen, an internal storage of 8GB, Micro USB port, an ARM Cortex A8 600 MHz Processor nd a 3.15 MP 2048×1536 pixel enhanced fixed focus digital camera with inbuilt LED flash.a

Nexus One
The Nexus One is by far and away one of the best Android powered handsets on the market today. It currently runs the latest version of Android – 2.1. Sporting one of the best virtual keyboards of its class, and with all the brilliant apps the Android market comes with, the Nexus One is thoroughly recommendable. Specification wise the Nexus has a 5 megapixel camera, 3G, Wifi, a 1Ghz Snapdragon Processor, a 3.7-inch (diagonal) widescreen WVGA AMOLED touchscreen, internal GPS, a high capacity 750 hours stand by time battery, 512MB RAM, a memory expansion slot upgradeable to 32GB, haptic feedback technology, proximity sensors and light sensors.

Apple iPhone 3GS
To reviewers and Apple fans the iPhone 3GS is the king of Smartphones. Every single Smartphone that has ever come to market, after the original iPhone had been launched, was compared to Apple’s hit product. It runs in the Apple product portfoilo family genes for each sibling to get the spotlight – and at the moment, the 3GS is where it is at. Praised for its easy to use and intuitive OS, the iPhone 3GS is a Smartphone which you can literally pick up and use automatically – seriously, a chimp could do it. Lightning fast, with over 100,000 apps to dowload, the amount of multimedia you can have on your iPhone staggers belief. There is just one downside – no multi tasking. Specification wise the 3GS has a 3 megapixel camera, 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen Multi-Touch display, 3G, Wifi, Proximity Sensors and an accelerometer.

Motorola Milestone

The Motorola Droid ships with Android 2.0 – but will recieve the 2.1 update shortly. The Droid offers the best QWERTY keypad of any Android phone, and it is a vast improvement on the G1. Fast, portable and surprisingly very thin, the Motorola Droid comes with social networking at its heart. A bit like Palm, Motorola has made a comeback recently as for 3+ years we have seen nothing from them. Jumping on the Android bandwagon has clearly helped. Specification wise the Motorola Droid has a 5 megapixel camera, light responsive display, aTI OMAP3430 600 MHz processor, 256 MB RAM, 512 MB flash ROM, a proximity sensor, magnetometer, accelerometer, 3G, Wifi and Bluetooth. The Motorola Milestone is a brilliant phone and one to definitely check out.

HTC HD2
The HTC HD2 is a powerhouse of a mobile phone. With a 4.3 inch display, this Windows Mobile device is a thorough alternative to any Android powered phone available today. With web page rendering speeds beating the Nexus One in benchmark tests, the HTC HD2 is a phone for the finger ready. The version of Windows Mobile it runs has been adapted with HTC Sense, the very slick UI seen on the Hero. Specification wise the HTC HD2 has a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 512 MB RAM, 448 MB ROM, a full capacitive touch screen, 3G, Wifi, GPRS, EDGE, Bluetooth, proximity sensors and ambient light sensors. The HD2 is the fastest WM device in the world – and could be considered as a direct alternative to the Nexus One.
