A large number of new bloggers tend to quit too quickly, on the grounds that no traffic is coming to their blog. Even, some of the long-time bloggers do not see increased traffic.

What could be responsible?

The answer is simple, you are possibly not following some basic tips and tricks for generating traffic to a new blog.

So, How can a Blogger Generate Traffic to a New Blog?

Obviously, there are tons of strategies for Generating Traffic to a New Blog. However, the topmost factor is NETWORK. More traffic is guaranteed with increased networking.

Building a network around your blog requires interaction with others using the following;

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Google Plus
  • Pinterest
  • Tumblr
  • Reddit
  • Others

These are not the only social media sites, but spreading the word about your blog comes with ease on those Facebook and Twitter social media networks. It’s also a great place to follow other bloggers easily and to generate traffic to a new blog.

Here are the most effective ways to generate traffic to any blog, whether new or old;

Comment on other Blog Posts

Follow the top blogs in your niche and post comments on their write-ups. At least, you should target to be among the first five people to post a comment.

Useful tips:

  • Subscribe to the RSS feeds of those top bloggers.  Use Feedly or the Feedly Chrome Extension.
  • Avoid spamming their blogs, usually by posting one sentence useless responses. Ensure that your comments add value and are pertinent to the article.
  • For daily traffic generation; search your “niche + blog” in top search engines to find out the top blogs in your niche.
  • Don’t ignore Disqus, LiveFyre and NoFollow blogs, focusing on DoFollow has an arguable amount of link benefit, the conversation is important.

Use Facebook and Twitter to Network with Others

On Facebook: Join Groups…it’s a great way to promote your blog out there. This may sound unbelievable but I’m generating 100+ leads on Facebook alone daily! And, I don’t even promote everyday. A couple of others even generate more traffic to their blog daily on Facebook. So, go ahead and bring Facebook traffic right into your blog. Initially, the task may prove challenging, but as you continue to promote others’ contents and get more familiar with others on Facebook, the tasks becomes easier.  Make sure you promote others and they know you are promoting their works as well, people are more inclined to reciprocate a share if you are sharing their submissions as well in groups.

Twitter: It is a great place to follow the renowned bloggers in your niche, as well as their followers. This would help to increase your targeted twitter following. As you create valuable contents and post the tweets, your followers will start retweeting.  Join Twitter Chats known as Tweet Chats, and also follow popular hashtags using something like and participate in popular hashtag discussions so you can be noticed by people following the threads, add something of value and stand out as someone worth following.

Video Marketing

A short but powerful video added to your blog link would prove effective.  Submit such videos to YouTube and other hot spots such as metacafe.  And embed them in your WordPress post and encourage others to watch video content, video content also lowers the bounce rate on your blog so adding more visual media has multiple benefits.

Helpful tools for video marketing: Screenr, Camtasia Studio, and having a USB Mic to record your voice cleanly.  A good inexpensive webcam like the Logitech C310 is a great choice to start recording video for vlogging too.

Create Detailed Articles

You need to dedicate time to this task. Traffic generation requires your quality time and effort. Although you can write short posts, you should also make effort to create lengthy articles occasionally – e.g. 1000+ words, especially if you do not blog full time. Also, ensure that the content is irresistibly great. Quality and detailed content would help you survive the fierce competition on the blogosphere and generate targeted traffic.

Remember to Integrate SEO

Don’t listen to anyone who says ‘forget SEO’ in blogging, whether you are just starting up or already established. You need SEO to generate traffic to a new blog and also an established blog. Search engine optimization (SEO) entails the use of the right keyword and how much of it is ideal to gain search engine traffic. Organic traffic is very essential for your blog; besides, it is entirely free and very effective.

Don’t embark on keyword stuffing as it will frustrate your readers and irritate the organic search engines. Don’t forget to embark on proper keyword analysis prior to creating your articles. Strategically embed the keywords into your content.

These tips are enough for a beginner, you will get to know more about keyword integration and other strategic tips for generating traffic to a blog as you progress.

    I have been blogging for a few months and I am beginning to see the effects of SEO and some networking hard work. Watching organic traffic trickling in without posting new stuff or too much promotion is mind soothing and brings hope that things are going in the right direction. :-) Your tips should come in handy in the near future.

    These are great tips and it is true, new bloggers, folks getting online to start a business or earn some money online give up way too soon. Blogging is the best way to get traffic, exposure, leads and prospects. But you have to be consistent and stay at it. If you have the money, hire a VA to help with the syndication of your blog posts. But whatever you do, don’t give up…. a business just doesn’t become successful overnight, it takes months and years!
