In scouring my latest Information Week magazine two articles struck me as the most interesting and worth adding as an entry on my blog today.

#1 –Graphene Based CPU

MIT researches have constructed a new experimental chip that is made of a one atom layer thick lattice of grapheme or pure carbon with only a single transistor. This chip may allow clock speeds of computers to be increased into the 500 Ghz to 1000 Ghz. Imagine CPU’s running at this speed which is 200x faster than current top CPU clock cycle speeds. According to the article the technology is only about two years away from being commercialized.
My prediction is home computers will be so fast and super computers able to be constructed from dozens of CPU’s that we are going to be seeing mathematical computations that could finally bring about a type of artificial intelligence within 20 years.

#2 –Craigslist Tops Myspace

Craigslist recently toppled MySpace as the number one search term in the United States, this reflects how everyone is looking to buy or sell things on craigslist, list services or look for jobs and shows how Craigslist is only further putting local newspaper classified ads out of business. I wonder if they were to merge an EBAY and Craigslist type system you can have local auctions, trades and see just what users are offering in your area so you can pick them up in person and avoid the shipping fee.

Those are some interesting articles I found this week, I am an avid subscriber to Information Week magazine being in the IT Technology industry and I enjoy reading new articles weekly.
