Heroes Graphic Novel #106 – Resistance

This novel takes us three years into the future where supernatural abilities have become common place thanks to the chemical formula which people can purchase and use to gain paranormal ability. In this future there are people who have taken it upon themselves to maintain order in the growing chaos. This novel focuses on Claire Bennett and delves into who she is and has become three years into the future.

The first page takes us into Claire arriving at Peter Petrelli’s place and we are told that she struggled to get over the loss of her parents. Peter tells Claire to be careful and that he worries about her, she cockily reminds him that she is indestructible. We are flashed a few days later where Claire and Daphne are walking and sharing how many people they “caught today” a bomb explodes, we are seen Claires body horribly damaged but she recovers, meanwhile many others were killed in the blast. Daphne was able to speed away before she was caught in the explosion.

We are then flashed a week later where Claire springs an attack on a terrorist cell. She barges open guns blazing a villain with ability to manipulate metal pulls the guns from Claire’s hands and pins her to the ground. She unpins a grenade on her hip and blows herself and the guy to bits. This is the most gruesome picture on this page I have ever seen, we literally see Claires arm blown off, her intestines hanging from a broken open rib cage, her body torn to shreds, and she regenerates her arm and everything. One of the terrorists is begging for his life after seeing Claire regenerate. Then the person speaks and says “I won’t make you forget again” and the person morphs into Peter Petrelli. This confirms that Peter has The Haitians ability in the future. He claims he tried to protect her, and that he is trying to save two million lives by sacrificing a few hundred. (Sounds like Linderman).

Claire then realizes that she has to kill Peter Petrelli.

This comic reveals much in both Claire’s healing ability and just how powerful and many abilities Peter has absorbed. Now with Sylar’s ability I can’t imagine that Peter can be stopped.

Once again I encourage all Heroes Fans to read the Graphic Novels and catch up, they do a great job to fill in the gaps in the show.
