- Contest is completed, congratulations to the two winners:
ZXT and Georgie both won a $100 Gift Card from HP and should have already received their gift and been contacted by our sponsors.
Thats right my readers, one of you who leaves a comment on this blog is going to win a $100 gift card. That is One Hundred dollars for you to spend on HP’s website to put toward a new laptop, printer, or collection of incredible HP accessories. There is only one way to enter and that is to leave a comment telling me what HP desktop, laptop or other product you would want to purchase and use your gift card for. Make sure when you leave your comment you include your email address (it won’t be shared) as this is the only way you can be notified that you have won. As with all contests there are rules, and can read the contest rules which I highly encourage.
Now that you know about the contest, let me tell you what Dragon Blogger’s HP Dream Home Office setup would include:
Though everyone wants a high performance laptop, I am more interested in a screaming gaming machine and you can only get ultimate performance with an HP desktop machine.

I am talking about the ultimate HP e9180t series with an Intel i7-975 quad core processor (Extreme Edition) clocked to 3.33Ghz souped up with 12GB DDR3-1066mhz SDRam, Two 1TB 7200 rpm SATA drives for 2 Terabytes of disk space, A 1 GB ATI Radeon HD 4850 video card which has screaming game performance.
That is not all, I already have a 24″ monitor, but I would go further and toss in an HP 2709m 27″ monitor with a Blu-Ray writer and Lightscribe DVD burner. It would have both a 1gb Ethernet card but in case I wanted to move it around, I would include a Premium Wireless-N card. This machine would include none other than the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium sound card (which I already have and can probably swap mine out).
When you have a monster rig like this, you will need 5.1 surround speakers, and the highest quality gaming keyboard and optical mouse. I would probably omit most software since I like equivalent open source programs for almost everything, but Microsoft Office is still a must for me.
My ultimate gaming platform comes to a total price of just over $3,000 dollars, but with this dream system you can be ready for Starcraft 2 and many more ultimate games being released over the next year. This system also costs much higher than other competitor sites (I priced them out, and you get HP’s known support and reliability in their machines).
But not everyone will be looking for the ultimate gaming rig, and if you just need a small inexpensive laptop for yourself, spouse or kids, you can get the HP G70t series with an intel T6400 processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 250MB Geforce 9200M video card (Dragon Blogger Tip – you should always buy an upgraded ATI or GeForce video card with laptops, many on board default video cards not only consume and share system ram, but also are not known for great gaming performance.)
You can get this whole laptop package for just over eight hundred dollars which drops it down to the seven hundred dollar range if you win the gift card, heck HP sells $279 dollar laptops if you are looking for something really cheap, use your gift card for one of those and you get a brand new fully functional laptop for less than $200 out of your pocket.
Shop now at shopping.HP.com and you can use coupon code “SV2132″ and save $30 on any order $150 or greater. This offer is Valid through 10/31 or while supplies last. Restrictions and exclusions apply. This coupon code expires in one week, so be sure to log into the HP Official store today so you can take advantage of the discount.
Bottom line my readers, HP makes some of the most powerful and reliable laptops in the industry and there is no better time to get yourself a new HP computer than right now. The best part is just by leaving a comment on this blog and one of my commenters will win a $100 gift card and will be contacted shortly after September 14th which is when the contest ends.
So leave a comment and tell me what type of HP product you would like and why?
Good luck to all contestants.

Excellent opportunity here! I’m glad to be the first to comment. HP has great devices and computers, I’ve used them for years. Your dream office sounds a lot like mine would be. I hope I win the $100 gift card.

I would like to buy a hp netbook so I can be on the go and still work on my websites. This is a very good contest. Thanks Greg Ellison

Thanks for joining the contest, good luck and I hope you get your netbook if you win.
August 25th, 2009 at 10:05 pm
Well if I won I would pick up a new HP 2009m 20in flat panel to replace my aging 17in flat XEROX panel. I sold HP products for years in retail and for the most part have been happy with the things they make. Still think for prefab desktops you can’t beat them right now. Either way look forward to the opportunity to be involved in the contest.
August 25th, 2009 at 10:09 pm
Thanks, good luck and I hope you get a new monitor. 17″ is definitely on the smaller side by today’s standards, though my son still has a 15″ HP LCD monitor with his almost 3 year old HP Pavillion sitting on his desk now.

I will be hard pressed to choose which HP product I intend to purchase with a $100 boost to my wallet. I’d like to have a laptop since at home computer is in the living room, so a laptop would look better, but we’ll probably need a printer soon to replace the one we have. Present printer was made by another company and I have decided against that product line for the future. Have an HP at work and it suits us just fine.
August 26th, 2009 at 8:04 am
I have used several HP inkjets and they make one of the most affordable color laser printers I have ever seen. Good luck.

I was just at the computer store last Monday and drooled for an HP mini notebook! Yeah! I wanted to have a notebook where I go, to the clinic, to the mall, to, uhm, anywhere! But, I guess you’d have to give me more than $100 worth of a gift card, huh?
Okay, I will find a way to add some cash to that gift card. he he he.
You sure have a good taste! Not only having a “command center,” but adding the 5.1 surround speakers makes it more of a gamer and a music lover’s paradise.
So, do I win yet?

Been drooling over the HP netbooks, but have a reasonably new dell mini9… Could certainly use a second 21″ LCD for my main system though.
August 26th, 2009 at 10:03 am
Yeah, my system is aging, I might spring and get a new system next year myself. Shame that computer hardware needs refreshing every two years if you want to stay with the latest software and game titles.
August 26th, 2009 at 11:08 am
Hey there J,
I would love to win! I can’t invest on a gaming system though. The days of Wolfenstein or Counterstrike are behind me. lol But I would love to get a new laptop. I got one for my wife but I think I need one for myself so that I carry it around where ever I go. And besides… She carries it in a Hello Kitty carry bag… Yeah, that doesn’t work for me. lmao Later.

Oh I forgot to mention a model number. I would definitely go with something in their HP G60t series. It’s not too pricey and has more than enough power to get me through my work week. It would be perfect.

Sounds great, I have a home computer and a work laptop, my son has an old HP Pavilion and my wife has her laptop. I don’t really need another laptop, but would like a media center PC so I can watch movies and stuff on my home theater from internet.
August 26th, 2009 at 12:41 pm
There would be no better time to win a gift card than now. Since relocating to a very tiny town in Ky, all shopping is done online or 1.5 hours away. I have also not been able to find work here, so any money spent has been on nessecities. If I won cash it would go to bills or household things. But I really could use a new printer since mine was damaged by water during the trip here from Fl. Since I cant eat it or light my home, I havent replaced it. I have not yet looked at printers as I dont want to tease myself so the exact HP model is unknown to me. But as far as quality and reliability, I think HP is the best.
August 26th, 2009 at 3:55 pm
Good luck, with the $100 gift card you could get a printer no problem. I couldn’t believe when I was visiting Kauii in Hawaii, that they have to fly to another island to shop for electronics and have them shipped by boat or plane.
August 26th, 2009 at 4:36 pm
Great contest. I’m right there with you on the machine. I’d have a very similar request if I hadn’t just picked up a Quad 2.83 machine with 12MB L2 and 8GB of DDR3. The 512 DDR3 GeForce is a little light, as is the 1TB solo HD…but what’s really missing is a monitor.
If I won, I’d definitely be looking at putting it towards a replacement for my old 22″ Widescreen. That HP 2709m 27″ monitor? It looks pretty darn good to me!
August 26th, 2009 at 4:58 pm
Thanks for entering the contest, I know, and I thought my 24″ monitor was big.

I’m looking at the 20″ flat panel monitor (whether or not I win the contest, actually). Would help conserve a bit of space in the cramped office….

Good luck, the contest runs until September 14th.

I would so get one of the mini netbooks! My daughter got one for college and I want one badly! It would be so cool to just have a computer like that with me all the time. Awesome contest!

But you wrote a great post! Hey, I want to enter to win!! I love HP– I have loads of their products. I’d just LOVE a super-duper hot-rod, definitely a quad-core, with 9GB RAM. I love the HP Pavilion Elite e9180f Desktop PC… wowsa!
Well, here’s hoping I finally win SOMETHING!! Nice contest.

If I won, I’d put the $100 toward the Compaq Presario CQ60Z series laptop. I only own a desktop now (a Compaq Presario PC) and I happen to be the only soul in my family without a laptop. This summer, despite having a wireless network, I was saddled to my desktop in the house instead of being able to enjoy the weather outside with a laptop in the backyard.
I love how HP walks you through every aspect of designing your laptop for purchase so I know I can customize it the way I want it.

HP mini netbook 1000 that I want to get caused my old laptop is not functioning well and way too big to carry back to evening school after work.

Many people have commented on how much they like or want the HP Mini, it is a good bang for the buck laptop.

I would use my gift card towards the HP Mini 110 due to the extra portability it has.

I hope I win

Hoping to get something with a decent amt of RAM and whatever other memory, so it can handle music downloads and surfing…..need speed 4 research. A laptop would be nice, then I could go out on “the road” with my husband and still work. Would be splendid to win!! Good luck to all of us!!
