HootSuite – The Ultimate Twitter Management Tool?
Posted by: dragonblogger // Category: TwitterWhen @AnnEvanston  one of my twitter followers mentioned the Hootsuite tool has the ability to track how many clicks your links were getting on Twitter, I thought I would check the tool out and see how it fared against other Twitter tools. Boy was I surprised I had not heard of this tool previously.
Hootsuite is indeed one of the best, if not The Best twitter management tool I have found and for several reasons. You can do the following things with the Hootsuite web site:
- Schedule your tweets for future posts
- Track @ of clicks your links get (indivually, daily, weekly…etc)
- Manage multiple twitter profiles from 1 website (post to multiple profiles simultaneously)
- Add followers / remove followers
- Create multiple users who can login and manage your twitter profiles for you (Ideal for companies who delegate twitter to employee’s or if you want a friend to run a twitter account while you are on vacation.)
I literally was blown away by all of the incredible features of this tool.
When you schedule your tweets, you can go back and see all tweets that are pending and either edit them or delete them.

You can easily manage multiple twitter profiles from your account, so you can post updates to multiple profiles without having to type the same message two or more times.

One of the best features is any tweets sent via hootsuite and URL’s shrunk with their ow.ly can be tracked, this means you can see which links are being clicked on and how many people are actually following your tweet links, this is a great analytics tool.

From the Dashboard you can see all follower tweets, replies, direct, fav’s as you would expect from any twitter management tool. In each field you can add someone to your follower list (or unfollow), reply, direct..etc

- Summary:
Overall HootSuite is one of the most comprehensive twitter management websites I have found and is probably the #1 Twitter tool right now on the web, its ability to schedule tweets, provide analytics, manage multiple twitter profiles sets it apart from the rest of the twitter tools. It has a few drawbacks and could use some additional features however.
A) It loads slow, each column is a manual refresh and it takes a good 5-6 seconds to load.
B) It doesn’t list all followers, and allow you to bulk follow/unfollow people
C) I wish it provided analytics for other URL shrinking services, like if you use Tweetdeck
I think if they enhanced Tweetdeck or merged some of the features between Hootsuite and Tweetdeck we would have the ultimate twitter tool, it would be a good enough tool they might be even able to sell for a small amount. Who wouldn’t pay $5 for a tool that is a combined Tweetdeck and Hootsuite?
I highly recommend HootSuite especially if you run multiple twitter profiles, or want to track your tweet analytics to see how many people are following your tweet links.

Hey Justin
Great Article, I use hoot-suite all the time and now with the upgrade it’s better than ever. I’m in love with the Google Analytics integration. Make no wonder most users never visit twitter anymore but use other tools to access and gain functionality instead!

Thanks, and I agree. I rarely log into “Twitter” itself anymore except to authorize OATH to other apps.

Twitter has been releasing a lot of stuff that are making these 3rd party apps out of business. I hope they don’t effect HootSuite, I’ve been a user since day 1.
