Is Your System Ready for Windows 7?
Are you as eager as I am to install and start running Windows 7 on your home computer or laptop, but aren’t sure if your older system will be able to support it? Try Microsoft Windows 7 Upgrade Adviser.
This free download from Microsoft site will scan your system and inform you of all items that may have to be resolved prior to, or during the upgrade to Windows 7 so that you can ensure your upgrade will be smooth and seamless.
In my case, I cannot do an upgrade, I have a very small Windows drive with no room left to accommodate an upgrade, so I must do a clean install on a separate hard drive. I also see some of my drivers won’t support Windows 7 yet, though I am fairly certain there are new drivers already for most of those applications.
I will be purchasing Windows 7 on the release date for several reasons:
1) Windows 7 will not have the TCP connection limits of Vista, and even though Windows Vista SP2 should have resolved this, it made my system much worse
2) Windows 7 supports SSD drives as a primary hard disk much better than Vista for even better disk write performance
3) I don’t have 64 bit Vista, and Windows 7 includes the 64 bit and 32 bit in the same purchased Home Version
4) Speed, Windows 7 is reported to be much faster and more efficient in almost every way over Vista and XP.
5) I want to create a Windows 7 category for my technology blog and bring new Windows 7 articles to my readers, no better time to start than the release day.
Who else plans on upgrading or installing Windows 7 when it releases?
