With one tweet reading “BING 2.0 terrific !! watch out guys ! bing + silverlight in maps = amazing !! goodbye google,” Microsoft has to contend with leaked information about their Bing 2 search engine online, the search engine which boasts many new features and may very well put it ahead of Google in terms of feature rich search engines is now peaking greater interest. There may be repercussions for the employees who linked company information, but companies should not rule out the fact that promotion and marketing can serve a greater good. If an employee is excited about a product and shares that with his following, this can do good things for the company as a whole.

However, it is a fine line between sharing unpublished information and if tips leak out too soon about what a company has to offer or will be offering, this gives an advantage for competitors to catch up or simply design faster to beat them to the punch. Either way Twitter is becoming a powerful force in breaking new information, from news articles to company secrets.
