Monitor Obsessions: One large or many small?

It is the subject of computer geek debates in workplaces and home offices around the country, do you prefer having multiple monitors of 19″ size together where you can basically expand your screen to fill two monitors or would you prefer to have a single 30″ LCD monitor sitting on your desk and working on a single monitor?
Considering that most home users are still using 1 monitor or even using their laptops LCD monitors, it seems crazy that one would need a monitor that is 30″ in length. However, I can see the benefit for graphic designers and artists who need to work on a large canvas, or people who need to have multiple documents or applications open side by side in real time. Personally my 24″ monitor I use but don’t have as many apps side by side, I just like having full size 1920×1200 screen resolution.
So, what kind of monitor do you use? Do you prefer giant single screen’s or multiple screens for your desktop?

I’d say *one* monitor, but mostly becaues I haven’t got a clue how I can connect 2 monitors to my MacBook Pro
I suppose I’d need some kind of USB/firewire equipment for the 2nd monitor.
Well, when using the laptop, you automatically get a 2nd monitor in the built-in one, in my case a 15″ built-in monitor.
At the office I use an old Dell 19″. It’s okay, but doesn’t leave much space for having a browser and a developing editor open next to each other.
At home I use a 24″ Samsung SyncMaster T240 which was actually very cheap, but it looks great and the size is perfect.

I’d like the best of both worlds! One HUGE monitor as the main one of course. It might be a high quality overhead projector and then multiple small ones. Or should I say smaller ones!
Unfortunately I only have a laptop, but if you look on my blog, you’ll see I have some big dreams! 8-D
