wiierror Nintendo Wii System Errors

When I first bought my Nintendo Wii last year it had some initial problems a few weeks after purchasing it, the Wii had stopped reading any game discs and would instead display a “System Error” whenever you tried to load a game, nothing I could do would resolve the issue and the problem would occur no matter any game disc I put inside the Wii.

It was covered under Nintendo’s warranty and I shipped my original Nintendo Wii back and received a replacement which worked fine for the entire year until now. Once again my Nintendo Wii has been acting up, and at first it was a minor issue. Several weeks ago my Nintendo Wii couldn’t load game discs if the Wii was sitting vertically, but worked fine when it was resting horizontally. Then a few weeks ago I noticed that my Wii could no longer read Super Smash Bros Brawl at all, even though the disc was in good condition.

Today however I noticed that my Wii cannot read my Wii Fit, SSBB, SMG, or just about any other game that I own, the same black “System Error” screen which requires a reset of the Nintendo Wii would appear each time I tried to load a game. I cleaned my discs, there are no scratches (I take good care of my gaming stuff) and my Wii just won’t work anymore.

I contacted Nintendo and now have to pay $85 ($75 + $10 shipping) to send my Wii back to Nintendo to repair and get it fixed. I know my Nintendo Wii is over a year old and is no longer covered under warranty but I think Nintendo should license out to allow local repair shops to fix Nintendo Wii’s.

My old Playstation 2 used to have a problem reading discs and I used to dismantle it and clean the laser lens with distilled alcohol once every three months to resolve the issue, it gets really dusty here in Arizona and I think maybe the Nintendo Wii has the same problem, but Nintendo uses propriety triangular screws to hold the device together and I have no means to open it to test this theory.

So I am out $85 bucks and have to wait several weeks to get my repaired Nintendo Wii, in the meantime looks like there will be more time for Runes of Magic and blogging, but my Gamefly account will sit and remain unused for a little while.
