Posting On Your Blog at The Best Time!

Posted by: BlazingMinds  //  Category: Twitter, blogging

It’s a dilemma that is often ticking over in my mind, is there a right or wrong time to post on your blog, you may be getting ready to hit that “publish” but, but do you wait and change it to a scheduled time for the post to go live!

A lot of us now use some kind of twitter posting from our blog feed, I myself use FeedBurner with the post to twitter option and this sometimes make me wonder if I should post as soon as I’ve finished or schedule it to go live when the majority of my twitter followers will see the tweet and then visit my blog post.

But does all that really matter?

I’m not too sure, it really goes the same with your RSS feed, you know it’s going to get to your subscribed readers, but does it matter when they get it as long as they stop by, read your post and comment.

After checking a collection of sites to find out when most of my tweets are clicked on or when the majority of visitors are arriving on my blog I do schedule posts to go out at particular times and this has made a difference in visits to my blog.

So what’s you point of view?
Do you post at set times or as soon as you have finished writing your post?

I actually never even thought about it to be honest. That’s not to say we shouldn’t, either!!!

This post has gotten me to think about it and I’ll definitely be considering this…
I need to pay attention to the time of day when tweeters out there are most active and such. I think most of my traffic comes from twitter.

    Thanks dude.

Food for thought indeed. A quick check on my feedburner stats shows very few people have subscribed so hopefully good old bookmarks will continue to do the trick

I myself will always queue posts so I have 1 going at 7am every morning. Readers get used to being hit up the same time every day, and it is good to have a recurring schedule you post on. Now if I have more than 1 post a day, I will let it blast anytime and let my Feedburner or Ping.FM plug-in handle the auto post to twitter.

I published a blog post around dinnertime and received 80 hits from Reddit within the hour yet around midnight I don’t see much. I try to stay away with publishing at night even though I do most of my posting at night. I schedule for 5pm eastern time.

Karen’s comment is kinda why I pretty much gave up thinking about it. I think the best you can do is check stats to see what country you attract the most and go from there.

Now here’s another thought; depending on how many feed readers vs. how many searchers you get, should you be asking what time top publish, or what time to set your feeds to publish? ;)

Coming to the party a little but only just catching up via my feed reader. Proof that publishing time is fairly irrelevant?

I’m undecided but I still post the 1 minute motivator via a 5.30am gmt schedule so as to catch the early morning surfers. The other, longer post goes out at 10am just in time for coffee break. ;)

When you post to your blog is not as important as when you Tweet, update Facebook, or send e-mails about your post.

The nice thing about RSS readers is they will highlight new posts – so no matter what time you post, your new posts will be noticed, even if they’re noticed then next day.

E-mail on the other hand is always best sent mid-mornig, in my opinion. After users have cleared their inbox of the over-night junk mail.

Facebook updates are good later in the day or in the eveining.

As for Twitter – it’s okay to send out tweets about new blog posts multiple times. I usually tweet a new blog post 3-4 times over a couple of days. Twitter isn’t like e-mail, so it’s very likely that your followers will miss the update.
