Reasons Why Twittley is Better than Tweetmeme for WordPress

My fellow technology blogger Tycoon Blogger did an excellent article explaining why Twittley is better than Tweetmeme as a twitter social button for your blog posts, and I encourage all of my readers to read it.

He went on to explain that because Twittley puts weighs the value of the person who retweets based on the number of followers, it accuratlely prioritizes which articles make the top of the list. This can be somewhat true in the fact that with Tweetmeme you could create dozens of small accounts and tweetmeme a single post into a very high retweet ratio.

I also like the style of the button better, and the default message it sends isn’t as obnoxious as tweetmeme. So thanks to Tycoon Blogger, I have replaced the Tweetmeme button on all of my blog posts with the Twittley button. Lets hope it works as well, anyone want to test my new Twittley button for me?

You can download the Twittley Plugin from WordPress.org and easily install on your blog.

    Hi dragonblogger,

I recently installed Twittley myself, and I am really enjoying it so far. I really feel that the folks at the Twittley team are helping to push us into the next stage in the social media evolution. In the short time that Twittley has been around, it has become a powerful little button, and I am excited to see how far it can take us in the future.

I agree, but Twittley does have some bugs, like displaying the wrong # of tweets for your homepage on your most recent post, and it seems like less people retweet my stuff with Twittley than they did with Tweetmeme, not sure why yet.

This is because Twittley uses real people that are submitting links and stories and doesn’t just pick up everything on Twitter like Tweetmeme. You actually get a lot more clicks back to your website or blog than just the number that is showing being retweeted. You might have 22 retweets but have gotten 420 clicks to your blog. Twittley is a great way to post articles with great content and generate lots of traffic to your blog or website. I am sticking with Twittley.

Looks good, but many of the same bugs still exist, like showing the wrong # of retweets on my first post on my homepage, and it seems to take a long time to perform the OATH redirect.
