Anker contacted us recently to see if we would be willing to review their line of External Battery packs for iPad, iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Google Nexus Tablet…etc. and we were more than happy to put them through the testing.  Anker makes a variety of products including External Batteries, Adapters, USB hubs…etc.

The first tablet external battery pack we tested was the Astro 3 External Battery which boasts 10,000mAh and has 2 USB output ports (2A, 1A) and a 3rd output port specifically for a SLR Camera or camcorder.

The Anker Astro 3 External Battery also called an external power bank does an amazing job at adding life or providing extra charge to two mobile devices at the same time.  You can charge your iPad, Kindle Fire, Samsung Galaxy Tab and an iPhone, Samsung Galaxy 3 or Samsung Galaxy Note 2 at the same time.

The Astro 3 External battery pack is a little larger than an iPhone and about 4x as thick, but it doesn’t have a lot of weight and fits along well in a carry bag for a tablet.  It has power indicator lights at the top with the power button in the center to turn it on and start powering your devices.

The Anker Astro 3 External Battery back worked well and provided hours of power to my iPad (2nd Generation) and iPod Touch at the same time.  I let me devices drain pretty low too see how much battery life would be added and with both devices lower than 50% the Anker Astro 3 was not only able to boost them into the 85% battery life range it did this while it was actively in use, so it basically extends your usage time with any tablet and acts as a full recharger for your smart phone.

The Anker Astro 3 boasts up to 6 full charges for your smartphone and 1 full iPad charge from a single charge on the external battery back and while I didn’t test for that many hours I did see evidence that this claim would be fully supported.

Right now Anker has a few incredible bundle deals you should know about, first the Anker Astro 3 is only $49.99 on Amazon.com and is a great deal considering how much extra power it adds to your mobile devices.

Second is that Anker is selling a Christmas Bundle of external battery packs on Amazon.com right now for only $99.99 that include 4 external battery packs including an Astro 3 10000mAh, Astro 5600mAh, and both a white and black Astro Slim 3600mAh chargers.  You get 4 external battery backs for $99.99 and this is a great bundle, buy it and use all 4, or keep the Astro 3 for yourself and give the others as gifts to family members and friends for the Holidays!

Seriously you get all 4 Anker external battery packs above for only $99.99 which is the price of a single external battery pack from some companies.  The smaller 3600mAh ones are only designed for smart phones but do very well for charging a smart phone while you are traveling.  The 5600mAh Astro can charge a smartphone 2-3 times but also can charge camera’s or a Playstation Portable.  Basically any device that charges via USB and supports 5V, 1A the 5600mAh Astro and Astro Slim can charge.  But for tablets that require 2A then you will need the Astro 3.

Soon we will be giving away some Anker Astro 3 battery packs as well as a full Anker® Astro Christmas Family Gift Holiday Pack soon here on DragonBlogger.com so stay tuned and in the meantime if you can’t wait go ahead and pick one up for yourself or a friend today!

Can’t wait, strapped for cash?

Anker has their Power User program, if you have a strong Amazon.com profile and are willing to test and review Anker products as well as provide them feedback on feature improvements as well as report any issues you could get free Anker products to test.  If you enjoy testing products and wonder how I sometimes get products to test and review for my readers then this is your perfect chance to sign up and see if you qualify to be an Anker Power User.

Disclaimer: Anker sent us an Astro 3 External Battery pack and an Astro Christmas Family Gift Holiday Pack in order to do a proper and full review of the product.  All opinions are 100% mine and mine alone.
