Review of NBC Heroes Graphic Novel #105 – The STING of INJUSTICE
Posted by: dragonblogger // Category: Entertainment, Heroes, TV Show ReviewsThis comic details how Knox met Jesse and was apprehended by HRG (Mr. Bennet). I starts off in a Diner, where Knox explains how he gets stronger by feeding off of peoples fear, the more afraid they are the stronger he becomes. They meet over a bottle of ketchup with Knox walking up to Jesse at a counter. Some thugs or gang members enter the Diner and start hassling Jesse. Knox who was looking for a fight sense the fear from the thugs and draws upon it to lift one into the air with one hand and toss him out the window. Jesse tells Knox to move aside and he releases a Sonic Blast at the remainder of the gang. Quickly releazing they both are “special” they see the benefit in joining teams and as they leave the restaurant an entire mob of people are waiting for them.
A car comes rolling in and Knox puts his fist right through the hood causing the driver to crash through the windshield. Jesse picks up a thug and releases a sonic blast that peels the flesh off of his face leaving naught but his skull behind. They finish off the rest of the mob and declare the neighborhood as theirs, when they hear someone exclaim “Not So Fast” behind them.
Knox tells Jesse to hit him with his scream, but he is unable to. They don’t realize that the Haitain is standing behind them and nullifying their powers. The Graphic Novel ends with Jesse and Knox behind the glass windows of Level Five and Knox declaring his intentions for revenge and payback.
This comic illustrates how Knox and Jesse were caught and why Knox was bent on revenge against HRG, even though his plans nearly cost him getting captured again in the last episode. Only Knox was able to get away due to Sylar pre-occupying himself with Jesse.
This also leads me to believe the following, the Haitian may be the single most powerful of all the “Heroes” he is able to stand in the middle of a crowd and not be seen. By manipulating the memories of all around him, he effectively makes people not “See” him. He is able to make people unable to use their powers, this isn’t by making them forget how to use them, because if he did that they wouldn’t remember even after he left.
If you haven’t read any of the Heroes Graphic Novels, I encourage everyone to read them. There is a lot of history there and 105 Comics of great story and story behind the story. One of my favorite is the 10 Brides of Kensai, where you learn what Adam Monroe did over the last 400 years and how he was married to ten ladies and loved them all. It really humanizes him and shows that he had good qualities sometimes, mingled with his own fanatic goals and illusions of grandeur.
