Social Networking Site Pownce Shutting Down
Pownce announces it has stopped accepting new users immediately and will shut down the web site and service on December 15th 2008. I wasn’t a big pownce user, but did sign up to Pownce when I noticed SocialSpark connected into it to give updates and such. Now IZEA will have to update SocialSpark to leverage plurk or another social service to post updates now that Pownce is shutting down.
I am not sure how many users were on Pownce, but I imagine it could not complete with the likes of Twitter and Plurk which it competed with. Although Pownce did have the ability to share files and media with friends which Twitter can only share links and messages.
How many of you are going to be affected by Pownce shutting its doors and shifting to other social networking sites?

i think there are too many social media sites these days, eventually some will die and others will consolidate. it is the way of anything when it starts. it will make the whole system stronger down the road.
