How Much Would You Sell Your Blog For?
By: dragonblogger // Category: blogging // 9 Comments »While blogging for about six months I have noticed that some bloggers sell their blogs for a set price and there are other sites that even estimate what your blog is worth and its value. These factors are based on how many indexes, visitor traffic, as well as other information and statistics. This made me ponder, what amount would I sell Dragonblogger.com and would it be worth it? What am I really selling if I were to ebay, or list my blog for sale.
I would be not only giving up the site itself which is a decent name in my opinion, but my whole Dragon Blogger personae that I have developed over the past six months. I am known by more people online now as dragonblogger than my real name, and I would be giving up this entire personae which is like my brand. So it is worth much more than just my simple anonymous site.
Some sites list my blog as being worth $17,000 – $22,000 dollars based on my traffic and stats, and though this may seem like an enormous amount of money (by the way, I doubt anyone would ever offer that for owning this site). Would I sell my blog if someone actually were to offer that amount?
Probably, because I spent 1/2 a year building up the reputation, image, blog and I would probably sell it and start over with a new identity and personae. But I wouldn’t sell it for less than 10k, since I think I can make my blog eventually grow to reach that per year if I stick at it long enough.
So what about my fellow bloggers, are you so attached to your blog that you would never sell, or do you have selling points for all your heart and hard work? I want to know what you think.
- MoneyXperiment talks about what they would do if offered money for their blog, would they sell or not sell it?
- Jenn on Dreams of Champagne how some blogs which are less personal would be sold but not others.
- Nita from The New Year 2009 talks about how personal her blog is and how much its worth to her.
- Intekhab khan from Intekhab Online talks about how they would sell their blog even thought it has an infinite meaning to them.
- Jugaad writes that they would never sell their blog as it is very personal to them, which is very noble.
