This post contains spoilers from the episode, it is recommended that you have watched Heroes Redemption Episode 11 before reading.  If you don’t mind finding out what happened in the episode, then by all means read away and I welcome all comments and opinions about the show and the episode.

Heroes Season 4 Episode 11 – Thanksgiving was appropriate in the fact that it focused on the various families gathering and all of them having some sort of revelation. As I predicted Noah met with Lauren in the present and it looks like some sort of relationship will be pursued that started but never went anywhere in the past when he was with Saundra.

noahfamThe highlight of the Thanksgiving dinner scene with the Bennett family was when Claire slit her wrist and forearm right in front of the entire family causing Saundra’s new boyfriend to faint and the way she said as they left “I told him he ate a peanut, he’s not the sharpest person”.

The fact that Saundra was jealous to some degree left it open to see if she might actually want Noah back, we know that Noah intentionally wanted to make Saundra jealous and surprise her, I just don’t know if Noah is using Lauren as a means to get Saundra back or if he genuinely is going to move on and try to make a life for himself with Lauren.

We see the Petrelli family wracked with the aftermath of the mistake Angela made last Season by having Matt Parkman force Nathan’s mind into Sylar’s body. We knew Sylar had recovered his physical body and in this episode we see him come to bear. What I don’t remember is Sylar killing the Puppet Master and acquiring his abilities. I don’t think Eric Doyle’s abilities were stolen by Sylar from what I remember. But we hadn’t seen Sylar actually use his telekinesis to trap and paralyze people in chairs before but because he didn’t “mime” the motions it would appear he wasn’t using the puppet master ability.

The fact that some of Nathan’s personality still exists to try and hold Sylar back is the only thing that saved Peter and Angela from certain death. Despite how much Nathan was a corrupted character, he was a very interesting character on the show and I would like actually prefer Sylar to be purged and Nathan restored permanently though I think the opposite will happen.

samuelMeanwhile with Samuel we are seen what we all knew to be the case which is the murder of Samuel’s brother which was done by Samuel’s own hands. Hiro realizes unfortunately that he is nothing but a pawn to Samuel who has no intention to let him find Charlie. Hiro does manage to save Edgar from Samuel but the mysterious man in the Carnival who showed Sylar his own memories was able to somehow either steal or wipe Hiro’s own (maybe he has part of the Haitian’s abilities to wipe memories or can just steal them?)

Samuel knows that Lydia and Edgar are traitors so it is only a matter of time for Lydia, I think Samuel only keeps her around for her ability to find what he is looking for as a fortune teller type. Though Samuel is powerful and able to manipulate earth, move cities and mountains as they say, he is clearly no match for the powers of Sylar who has a much more diverse range of abilities. His nuclear ability alone could wipe out the entire Carnival and his regeneration makes any amount of stones and rocks Samuel could bury him with seem trivial.

Dragon Blogger Review of Heroes Season 4 Redemption – Episode 10

By: dragonblogger  //  Category: Heroes      //  No Comments »

This post contains spoilers from the episode, it is recommended that you have watched Heroes Redemption Episode 10 before reading.  If you don’t mind finding out what happened in the episode, then by all means read away and I welcome all comments and opinions about the show and the episode.

nathan1Heroes Season 4 Episode 10 – Brothers Keeper was one of the best episodes so far of the Season, we find Peter and Nathan (Sylar’s Body) working together to find out what is going on only to be led to Matt Parkman where a brief brush of the hand is all it took for Sylar to re-inhabit his original body.  This is going to set the stage for another deadly showdown with Sylar probably going for revenge against everyone who was involved in this plot to purge him from his own body.

We learn more about Samuel and that his power grows exponentially based on the number of people with abilities within his area, his power grows as he collects and adds more people to the carnival.  We also see how he killed Mohinder in the past and learn how deadly his ability to manipulate earth and stone really is.  Hiro however manages to throw a wrench by saving Mohinders life and hiding him from Samuel, meanwhile he knows he must stop Samuel but can’t until he gets Charlie back first.

This episode was very fresh and I enjoyed how they tied Samuel back to Coyote Sands, one thing I really like about the show is how they keep referring to events and things in past seasons, it makes the whole show feel fluid and you really have to be  a fan and watch every episode to “get it” when they reference things from past episodes and seasons.  This of course makes it a bit harder for the show to grow to a larger audience because it requires people to have been fans early on to truly understand what is going on.  So the truly devoted are rewarded, but the casual watchers are unfortunately left a little confused which is a shame.

The fact that Hiro saved Mohinder by putting a vest on him was brilliant and shows that Hiro is much more capable in the future than he was in past seasons, the one odd thing is he seems to be able to use his ability with less side effects than earlier this season.  I still hope that Peter or somebody can heal him so his brain tumor doesn’t kill him.

Tracy and Claire meeting up only to discuss how they don’t fit in and Tracy loses control over her powers was a very minor part of the show, it was cool when she froze Claire and her foot broke off, only to have her foot regenerate and her broken foot be like a paperweight on the table, but clearly Tracy is being coerced and tricked by Samuel to perform some sort of function or service.

We also meet Samuel’s brother who knew what Samuel would be capable of and has been his “Brothers Keeper” since Coyote Sands, at first I though the episode pertained to Matt and Peter, but it clearly referred to Samuel and his brother.  We already know that Samuel had a hand in his brothers death and he becomes more emotionally unstable and dangerous as he continues his quest to find out how he can acquire more abilities.  The odd thing is, even though he hasn’t seen the tape he still adds people with abilities to his Carnival.  Wouldn’t he have figured out that he is more powerful than he was a few years earlier just by more people being added to the Carnival?

The next episode shows us Hiro and Lydia scheming against Samuel and Nathan, Peter and Momma Petrelli sitting down which can’t lead to anything good.  We all know a showdown is coming, so my question for you Heroes fans is now that we know Samuel’s powers grow with more “specials” around him and mention of him becoming the strongers, who do you think will be outmatched when the showdown comes?  Take the Samuel vs Sylar poll.

Dragon Blogger Review of Heroes Season 4 Redemption – Episode 9

By: dragonblogger  //  Category: Heroes      //  3 Comments »

This review is for readers who have either seen the show or don’t mind reading about what happens in the show, this review talks about events that happened in the show and would be a spoiler to someone who hasn’t watched the episode.

Shadowboxing is the episode that shows you what Matt Parkman is made of, and that he is noble and willing to sacrifice himself to stop Sylar from exacting revenge and murder on the masses should he regain his body. It is also the episode where you see Noah regain a little bit of his former self when he worked for the company, coming to Claire’s aid to help clean up the mess with the Becky situation.

We learn why Becky hated Claire and more specifically HRG and her lust for revenge, Samuel meanwhile continues to open himself up and reveals himself to both Claire and Noah in an unexpected way. He plays the victim quite well showing fear at Noah and claiming his family were trying to stay hidden from Noah, meanwhile there is a cunning plan set in motion behind his outward docile appearance with Noah.

Meanwhile the Sylar body shell which has Nathan’s imprint wakes up and is shapechanged as Nathan himself, flying away to find Peter and figure out what is happening to himself. I was left wondering what happened to Hiro, eager to find out what has become of his last trip to the past, but the show makes us wait until next episode to see the outcome of that part of the story.

It was great to see the Haitian come back in the episode and he continues to be an enigma and one of the most powerful people with abilities, the fact that he can null any other hero and erase memories and even identity makes him probably the only person who can slow down or stop Sylar should he regain his real body again. It was a little disappointing to see Gretchen wig out and abandon Claire but it was understandable given the fact that she is a “regular” person and her life was in danger, most people would not be able to handle the stress of that type of situation.

Peter meanwhile was able to use his picked up ability to heal people and help reduce the number of fatalities from a major accident, though he is drained and his power seems to need to recharge after each use, he does the best he can with the ability. I really thought that while Emma was playing the piano, Peter would see the sound as light and be able to pick up additional abilities via his empathy, but it didn’t happen….yet.

All of this left for an episode that I thought was truly exception, it was a fantastic touch to have Matt/Sylar end up in the same restaurant where Sylar “almost killed” Charlie three years earlier, the fact that he remembered he almost killed a waitress there was a nice touch to show that history has been partially rewritten.

TV.com has this show rated at a 9.8 with 21 votes so far which again is the highest rating so far this season, the episodes just keep coming better and we all want to see an eventual showdown between Sylar and the carnival in the end. Some things remain unsettled though, it would appear that Lydia and Edgar are planning some sort of mutany behind the scenes of Samuel and there should be more to what is going on there.

Also, I love the Sylar character and Zachary Quinto does such a good job playing two versions of Sylar in each episode, but this needs to be the last season for Sylar. Either he comes to a dramatic and permanent end this season, or he goes “away” into some sort of hiding or remission and takes a haitus only coming back as a partial role once and a while. His character and plot has dominated the show for four seasons now, and the show needs to spend more time with new characters.

Again, not that I don’t love the Sylar character, but it is going to be too redundant if the Heroes all band together to stop him “again” only for him to be almost dead “again”. They need to not let this happen when they somehow resolve Sylar’s storyline this season.

That is my review of Shadowboxing, what did my readers think of the episode? Wasn’t it was brilliant scene when Matt caused Sylar to slowly pull his hand from his jacket only to be shot by the police, was an ultimate FU to Sylar as he honorably terminated himself. By the way, who saw that Peter heals Matt in the next episode only to find out that because of Peter, Sylar will be brought face to face with Matt Parkman and his own full personality.
