Cuddle Against The Cold

A chilling wind whips past our faces
Noses frozen and lips drying out
I wrap my embrace around you
With the warmth of an electric blanket

Our eyes meet and our lips part
No icy stare between these faces
Our gazes warm the soul
This is the look of love

So we continue to walk and our fight
Against the cold and dark frigid night
Only to reach the door to our dwelling
Where I can feel our love still swelling

We get inside and the door slams shut
We cuddle against the cold bodies heaving
Clothes unravel and pile on the floor
As to what happens next I can tell you no more

Don’t Flush Away Your Dreams

Posted by: dragonblogger  //  Category: Consumerism, poetry

Wrote this poem out there for everyone who deals with people who don’t believe in them, everyone who is put down and everyone who needs a little encouragement.

Don’t Flush Away Your Dreams

I have neared the end of the road or so I am told
by the ancients who are wiser than me
Give up your dreams be like the others
Being different is wrong in society

I beg to differ with those who spew this
I need this negativity like a colon cleanse
Your dreams are your own you fight for them
Don’t let anyone tell you to flush away your dreams

Whoever your haters are do not listen to them
Parents who scorn without mercy
Lovers who tease and taunt you with power
Friends who think you beneath them

Be yourself no matter what they think
If you dream then dream a bit bigger
Nobody got hurt reaching for a cloud
If you fall you are nobler than all those who failed to try

Entrecard Still Severely Disabled Today

Posted by: dragonblogger  //  Category: blogging

My fellow Entrecard users, forgive if I haven’t dropped you back since Friday. The problems with Entrecard have made reciprocating drops almost impossible.  Every time I click on Drops Inbox, I get a 500 error in Entrecard, I can’t barely even check my account dashboard.

When I visit any of my fellow’s sites, the Entrecard logo never loads the “Drop” button, so there is nothing to click on.  Ah well, I figured my site would take a huge hit with Entrecard being down for almost 2 days, but my site actually didn’t take too bad of a traffic hit.

My site did drop from about 300+ unique visits per day to about 50 per day.  This shows that at least a good portion of my users come to my site for more than just Entrecard drops and this makes me very proud.  I also want to tell users that I did have the option to do a Social Spark Opportunity yesterday, but I chose not to do it.  I just couldn’t believe in the product and it wasn’t worth promoting something I don’t believe in just for $6.50.  I value what people think of my blog too much to put an ad for some shoddy product that I just can’t sell without feeling like I am selling something hokey.

Spending the weekend with my kids, so not blogging my 4 times per day as usual.  I will pick that up again tomorrow.

Thanks to all my readers for visiting and I encourage you to do a Social Spark opp (See my post prior to this one) if you are bored this weekend, it is something to do.

Also, I need another volunteer for my Poetry Contest on Wanderer Thoughts it isn’t going to be much of a contest with only 2 submissions,  I mine as well just give away the Entrecredits at this point.

Dragon Blogger Launches a 2nd Blog Dedicated To Poetry and Literature

Posted by: dragonblogger  //  Category: poetry

I have decided to spawn a second blog devoted completely to my Poetry, Short Stories and other Literature.  I have hundreds of pieces written over the years and after being inspired by BeforeIamFamous and DragonFly Poems, I have decided to start my own blog with a similar theme.
If you have ever enjoyed poetry, I actually have been published twice and one of my poems recorded on audio cassette years back and narrated.

Here is one of my previously published poems reprinted from Wanderer Thoughts

  • Being a Father

Setting up hopes and thinking up dreams
Holding his baby the proud father beams
Such a tiny creation the world still ahead
For now only changings and keeping baby fed
Will I be a good father will I teach baby right?
I wonder so much it costs me sleep at night

A few years pass the real trial begins
Teaching toddler right so he will commit no sins
Envisioning a future and hoping child will excel
The answers to my questions only time will tell
Reliving my childhood while playing with child
I bicycle my boy to the park the weather is mild

Children make mistakes acting their age
Calm, I am not always sometimes I do rage
Discipline is tough for any way hurts me too
When my child is bad what can I do?
As once baby turns ten I am proud to say
I have done more right than wrong up till this day

My child is smart and does well in school
He reads books a lot his mind is a tool
I encourage and praise but am also a critic
Trying to push without being too harsh is the trick
Sometimes I fail and can hurt his feelings
But my success helps him strive for his dreams

As the years pass in his teens is my son
His studies start slipping his focus is fun
I try as I may he has a will of his own
Punishment is futile soon he will be grown
But alas a new thread has come from the seam
Moving a way, my boy is putting distance between

I can only listen and give support when he is in a bind
My attentions are focused elsewhere but I still bear in mind
His future lied elsewhere but he has found success
He found his life partner in this world that’s a mess
I visit his wedding wishing I could do more
He seems happier now and success is coming for sure

It looks like I have done a good job as a dad
Though the distance between us sometimes leaves me sad

  • What do you think of my Poem?

Latest Poem By Exquisite Corpes on BeforeIAmFamous

Posted by: dragonblogger  //  Category: poetry

The latest poem put together on Exquisite Corpse by BeforeIAmFamous was posted yesterday. I participate in this poetry contest whenever I can and it is really is a nice concept. People everywhere submit lines based on each week’s contest and the blog’s administrator puts together some very creative poems based on the input from the various submitters over the week.

This week’s Poem Endzone Glory is about Football (like you couldn’t have guessed that).

Here is the full reprinted poem with all the links intact.  Note:  Starting next week and from now on, Exquisite Corpse contest will run on DragonFly Poems instead of BeforeIAmFamous.

Endzone Glory

Posted on | September 26, 2008 |

Solid hits make their bones rattle
As Warriors wage a modern battle

Defensive struggles are the best
As teams confront a brutal test

A solid body slams into him like a speeding car
An impossible throw is caught by a rising star

The ball snaps and flies to the quarterback’s keep,
Pass, catch, run for the yards, TOUCHDOWN, time for a Lambeau Leap!

Exquisite Corpse is hosted by Before I am Famous.
Please note Exquisite Corpse will run on Dragonfly Poems for the next edition.

One of my favorite poems posted on Before I am Famous

Posted by: dragonblogger  //  Category: poetry

I visit Exquisite Corpse often on the Before I am Famous blog, and often click on Dragonfly Poems to read a new poem here and there. I write poems myself dozens and dozens of them but never publish them. I keep them in an unfinished book and just enjoy using poetry as an outlet and expression of feeling and emotion, as well as writing whimsical stuff that just comes to me.

I read a bunch of poems on the spark listing and one that stuck with me the most was Tornadoes, A very simplistic and elegant poem about how the struggles of life weigh on ones mind.

This made me dig through my poetry archives and find one of my poems I wrote back, I was working in a position that had me doing 70+ hours per week doing IT troubleshooting and support.

So I am posting this here as a tribute to everyone who works in IT and carries blackberry’s and is on a 24×7 leash.

Hail to the IT Slave
Sweat and fatigue cloud the mind
hour after hour until the end of time
The issues infinite, the problems endless
Sanity wanes, as you start to feel stress

Rolling toward the beach of the worker
Unstable systems toil like waves
Processes, applications, they all take a toll
As you troubleshoot night and day

Redundancy, Failover, all in place
Yet function is down and company loses face
Customers whine and start to complain
As you work magic to restore applications again

So you sit bleary eyed, fatigued and feeling a bit weak
A network issue, hardware failure, or memory leak?
Often a bounce is the quickest cure
Though this solution is short term, and never for sure
