I have wondered how do you share a file with your friends on twitter if you want to send them a song, image, or something you are working on collaboratively, like a document or presentation.

I originally read about Tweetcube from someone else’s blog, but when I tired the site I was unable to click “upload a file” in either IE, Firefox or Chrome, the application just refused to do anything, several refreshes kept reaching overload limits related to max API usage even though I still had 60+ api calls to twitter left for the hour.

Filetwt is a service that I found to be the most effective, the file leverages the widely used “Rapidshare” file hosting network to store your file and then sends a custom tweet to your recipient(s) where they can follow the link and pick up their file. The only disadvantage is that rapidshare can have some long wait times if the network is busy for you to download your file and this can be a big reason to not use the service.

But right from the homepage you can enter your twitter credentials, type your message (don’t forget to include your D or @ users you are sending the file to) and then upload the file of your choice.

The service works and works fast, and is one good option for sending users files for them to pick up via their twitter account.

I have heard people use FileCube, I just had no luck getting the service to work and found that Filetwt seems to suit most people’s needs just fine.
