Twitoaster – Great for Grouping Twitter Conversations

Posted by: dragonblogger  //  Category: Twitter

Busy playing around with Twitoaster and it is extremely effective at grouping conversations on twitter where you can follow an entire chain of tweets to one or more people. Whereas Tweetdeck and Hootsuite only show you the “in reply to”, Twitoaster will track every part of a conversation thread and it groups them under the original tweet you sent out. So each tweet of yours is tracked as a conversation showing you how many people communicated with you off of the same tweet or thread.

You can see an example here:

Where it really shines is showing me how many people respond to my twitter poetry game calls, here you can see 5 tweets hitched to one of my calls for random words:

You also get information about your replies peaks, showing you how many replies you have and what times of days of the week and times of the day your peaks are found.

Summary: While it doesn’t have the analytics breadth of TwitterAnalyzer which is the best analytics tool for twitter that I have seen so far. It does do a great job of showing you entire conversation chains and this is very useful if you are a power twitter users who is used to getting dozens of replies and responses on many of your tweets. If you are a small time twitter user where you only get one or two replies on a few tweets an hour, it isn’t really needed and Hootsuite and Tweetdeck suffice for tracking the “In Reply” To just fine.

It should be the basic feature on Twitter itself! When I first joined Twitter, I got turned off by the fact that it’s so hard to follow replied conversations on Twitter

That is why a bunch of people I know use Plurk, because it does a good job of tracking conversations.
