Summer vacation is coming and people are going to be anxious to start taking road trips to various places across the country and before you embark on your journey you should make sure that your GPS systems are updated with the latest map information.

Good reminder, otherwise a GPS is useless without the most updated map. Garmin nuvi 1390LMT offers lifetime update of maps and traffic, so you don't have to worry about buying maps each time you travel in a new country.

Thank you for sharing.I get lost without a GPS these days! In the past I had a reasonable sense of direction and could use a map well but today if I’m stuck without a GPS

Good call. I've ran into my fair share of problems by not updating gps. I'll go on a vacation to place I've been before, and the roads have changed. Sucks.

Sigh... I made that mistake ONCE. I went to a newer part of boston in my MDX which has said navteq in it but i didn't want to update the disc because they are so dang expensive. Well in the future i won't ever think that again. I got lost every day in that city. The price of the discs or updates are worth it.

What a coincidence - I also just updated Western Europe and West USA on my TomTom yesterday :) But only because my 1 year subscription was about to expire.

I won't be using my TomTom on my next US trip though (East), as buying East US will cost the same as buying Navigon for iPhone and I rather use it on iPhone so I can use it for walking around in the cities too (my TomTom has a really bad battery), and then I have everything in just one unit, rather than having a seperate GPS unit.

Bottom line - I love GPS :D
