Video Demonstration: Optimizing Your WordPress Posts for SEO
Posted by: dragonblogger // Category: bloggingI have seen many people ask questions on how to use the WordPress Plugin called “All in One SEO Pack” which is one of the most popular and best plug-ins for getting your blog decent search results in the Google search listings. By default wordpress does not add a Meta Keywords tags to your posts, you can confirm this by doing a “view source” from your browser on a post in your wordpress blog. The Thesis theme can do this automatically, but if you are not using a Theme that is optimized for SEO, you will need the All in One SEO Pack plugin. With this plug-in all of your blog posts will be tagged properly with META DESCRIPTION, META KEYWORDS. You can see this by viewing the source code of your blog after installing the plug-in and using it, you will see lines in your header that look like this:
These meta tags are crucial for Google and when it indexes your site, it uses these meta tags to determine what gets displayed in Google search results.
<meta name=”description” content=”A Phoenix couple was charged with embezzling more than $20,000 from a Chandler charter school with false checks for janitorial supplies.” />
<meta name=”keywords” content=”embezzling charter schools, charter schools, school theft, arizona news, chandler news, phoenix news, stolen school funds, embezzled school funds, arizona school funds embezzled, laurie basset, chandler dobson academy, dobson academy chandler, arizona” />
</em>
Here is a video demonstration on how to install and configure All in One SEO Pack and how to use it for your blog posts, this video also includes some tips on how to find keywords for your blog article:

Do you mean you only use the All in One SEO and not the WordPress “keyword and excerpt section”? I do leverage both because when people do searches on wordpress it looks at your wordpress tags and such as well. Somethings read the wordpress tags/slugs, others don’t.

I use the all-in-pack on all my blogs and if I Setup WordPress Blogs or SEO consult for my wordpres clients, I always recommend this plugin over theme that have SEO installed in the theme.
I have seen the differences between using and not using the tool. I recommend it to anyone wanting to drive organic traffic to their wordpress blog.

Have you used Thesis? I haven’t but I heard you don’t need this plug-in with the Thesis theme, it does the same thing built in.

I installed the All in One SEO Pack to my wordpress site and am very happy with it. One thing that it is lacking in the ability to put meta tags in the “categories” pages. I don’t Know if this would help with SEO efforts but I don’t see how it could hurt.

I get lots of search results to my site that come and hit my category, I think that would be a good idea though if you can SEO tag your categories. But I like that it SEO’s pages as well as posts.

I used this plugin for a long time before I made the switch to Thesis Theme and loved it, I noticed results as soon as I added that plugin and started using it.
Great video tutorial.

Thank you, so you confirmed the Thesis theme doesn’t need this plug-in then, it has all the same SEO features? Can it SEO tag categories?

I don’t know why I picked the Platinum SEO plug-in. It’s similar to All-in-one, just have a few more features that I don’t actually need -_-’
Oh well, I guess they are sort of the same anyways

Actually the Platinum is the better choice, much better. It has EVERYTHING AIO has and more, much more. It also has the ability to import all your AIO settings, so you don’t lose them or have to re-do them.
FYI everyone. Google and now Yahoo have finally given the definitive word that they no longer use meta keywords, AT ALL.
The rest of it is useful though.

I will have to check out the Platinum, it is far less popular, I just grabbed the one with the most downloads and stuck with that.

Yea so far it is less popular. The thing is, the guy that invented Platinum LOVED AIO but wanted more features.
