I had thought I checked everything prior to my Windows 7 upgrade and would not run into any issues. Alas I found a problem with my Canon MF3110 multifunction laser printer does not support 64Bit drivers and will not work with my Windows 7 64bit Home Premium. This would have been a problem even if I were using Vista 64bit as this isn’t the Windows itself, there just aren’t any 64bit drivers for the Canon MF3110.
My Canon Digital Rebel XT and my iPod had no issues, nor did my Podcastudio Microphone. Let this be a lesson to those considering upgrading to the 64bit version of Windows. Check with your product websites and make sure all your external devices have drivers that support 64bit. The older the device, the less likely it will have 64bit drivers.
I ran Windows Upgrade Adviser but this focuses on your internal system components, it does not check your external USB connected devices to check for compatibility.

Thank you so much for doing this first, you can suffer through all the problems and inconveniences so we don’t have to.
I hope things are smoothed over soon!

Found a driver before for the MF3110. You have to go to Canon Europe’s site for it – http://software.canon-europe.com/software/0026662.asp – download and install that. Rename it MF3110 and you have to change the paper size setting. I haven’t gotten the scanner working but at least it prints in 64-bit Win7!

I installed the 5770 driver for the printer aswell and get some error about the paper size. What do I have to reset?
Best regards,

I have seen that error before even with the 3111MF drivers on windows XP, where the paper size keeps erroring. In the printer itself reset the paper size to “Letter” in the options.

I was using the 64-bit Release Candidate 1 before and just the printer driver. I’ve been running the full version of Win7Pro 64-bit since the end of Feb.With the MF5770 64-bit drivers I have scanning and printing working ok. The scanning isn’t perfect, but overall it tends to work and printing works great mostly.
I just wished Canon would wake up and notice this and modify/release these drivers for 64-bit for the 3110 officially on their site instead of us having to share tricks like this. How many other people are without a working printer for similar 64-bit issues?

I called Canon and they said they won’t release a new driver for that old model printer. I don’t know why these companies insist on buying the latest printer hardware just because OS upgrades.

Also you can use the 64 bit drivers for the Canon MF5770, they will work for this printer as well. And I still have no solutions for the printer
