Every Year We Order Custom Calendars As A Gift
One of the gifts that we get for ourselves every Christmas is an order of Custom Calendars that contain a picture of our children for each month of the previous year. This is kind of a way we catalog our kids growing up and can see it as a reminder every day on the calendar. We order one for my office, one for my wife’s office and one for my in-laws, we custom build our calendar with pictures of our kids for each month that corresponds. So for March 09 calendar, we would have a picture taken of my boys in March 08′.
I have several of my calendars from the past and can flip through the months and years and watch as it originally started with only one son in the calendar and now has grown to two boys who get older and older each month and noticeably it seems.
This year I decided to order our calendars through Vista Print, which is the first time I have used this particular site for ordering calendars. What attracted me first to this site was you can order full customized wall posters starting at $7.99 ordering a custom calendar could not be any easier and is a 4 step process.
The first thing you do is visit Vista Print’s website and you are greeted by a wide variety of products that they offer. If you need business cards, stationary, stamps, labels, T-shirts they can do any of that and more for you. I was interested in of course ordering my Holiday Calendars for this year.
After clicking on the Cards and Calendars section, I then clicked on Photo Wall Calendars. Though they do have smaller Photo Desk Calendars that start at $3.49 and this was an amazing deal in my opinion.
Once you click on Photo Wall Calendar you are then presented with a list of designs you can choose from, 7 pages of designs so they have many choices. I chose the solid black border since I black is clearly one of my favorite colors for visual appearance, just see this website to know that I like black backgrounds and borders.

Once you select your main style you then get to choose to have a white border around the month grid, or matching color. I love matching black with the white boxes for the days it gives it a much sleeker appearance. I then had an option to choose the numbering style, I really like the Large numbers, but if I needed to write something on the day I needed space and a small number would serve better. I ultimately went with Top Bar selection, which puts a color matching top bar on each day with the date number.
When you finally select this you click continue and then get to choose your 13 images to upload. 1 For the Cover of the calendar and 1 for each month in the calendar. I want to point out that for best image quality you should make sure your images are sized to 1665 pixels x 1325 pixels. This means if you have smaller images and you still want to use them, I would use a photo or paint program to re-image the files so that they will fit properly. If you have a larger photo, scale it down in your own paint program as well.
After uploading your photo’s you then click on the continue button and can start your customizing of the text. You can actually put not only the title and caption each photo, but you have the option of putting custom text on each and every day of every month. You can put in your own anniversaries, reminders, birthdays…etc This is really a nice feature in my opinion as you can put in your parents birthdays and anniversaries, as well as good friends, and your calendar also acts as your reminder.
If you don’t have enough time to finish building your calendar in one sitting, you have the option of “Save For Later” which will let you create a session and email the link back to yourself. This will allow you to go back and add changes and finish the creation of your calendar later.
After you have uploaded your photo for each month, captioned each month’s photo and set custom text for each pertinent day you wanted to flag, you now can approve and then place the order your calendar.
I always order 3 copies, one for my wife, one for my in-laws and one for myself. They have decent shipping prices and the total cost for these calendars came out for less than if I just bought some calendars from my local mall.
Anyone who is looking to give a personalized gift this year especially one that serves an additional purpose of sharing photo’s and has date reminders, this is a really good gift and Vista Print has many options.
