Technology is changing the way patients are diagnosed and cared for in various fields of medicine in a remarkable way. One area which is having a marked impact on the medical world is the use of 3D printing. Today 3D printers are being used to make a range of medical devices, which includes those with highly complex features that replicate a patient’s anatomy.
3D printed devices currently include external prosthetics such as hands, and internal hip joints and cranial plates. Research scientists are also looking at the possibilities of 3D printed living organs such as liver and heart, and although this is ground breaking technology it is in early developmental stages at present. Nonetheless 3D printing has so many possible uses it is, and will continue, to help improve patient care and outcomes for years to come.
In the infographic below we take a look at some of the world’s leading Futuristic Hospitals and show how technological advancements already in existence are impacting the medical world in ways never thought possible less than a decade ago.
